If you haven’t had a chance to find out more about Remember A Charity week, there’s still time. The ‘official’ week finishes on Sunday—BUT! The good thing is that you can include a charity in your will no matter what time of year you write it*. 😎 At Farewill, we’ve helped raise over £1 billion in pledges for charities of all shapes and sizes: local and national - supporting people, humans, the environment and more. It’s a wonderful way to leave a lasting legacy. ✍ If you haven’t written a will yet, and you’re still thinking about it, find out more about the good you can do: https://lnkd.in/eRsUUc7b And thank you, Remember A Charity, it’s been pleasure to be a charity champion. 💛 *You really should write a will. You know it. Stop putting it off. 🙊

“Charitable giving is a key part of our culture here in the UK; we rely on charities for emergency services, for healthcare, to protect our world and our heritage, our loved ones, to provide counsel and so much more. And it goes to follow that most of us wish to give back and to support good causes in some way.” 'Willanthropy' isn’t just a funky name. Charities need gifts in wills to continue providing the services we rely on. At Farewill we’ve helped raised over £1billion for our charity partners and we're proud that figure is growing. So of course we were delighted to partner with Remember A Charity week. It's another way to remind people that it’s possible to leave a gift to charity in your will. (And to remind people to *write* a will!) According to the Association of Lifetime Lawyers, nearly ‘half of UK adults’ haven’t made a will, and almost a third would ‘rather watch TV’ than get it done. We get it (and we’re one of the biggest will writers in the UK). Writing a will sounds hard, boring and like something you can leave 'til later. There’s also the fact that lots of people assume it’ll all work out anyway. But the intestacy laws (which apply if you die without a will) don’t account for couples who are living together but aren’t in a civil partnership or married – and they don’t account for blended families either. So if you've been putting it off, writing a will is easier than you think. We've helped thousands of people write theirs: we should know! Find out more about it – and how you can support a charity at the same time. It really isn’t hard. In their words, "Pass on something wonderful":  https://lnkd.in/gbM3XAh 💛 #GiftsInWills #LegacyGiving #CharityFundraising #Willanthropy

Lots of people know it's important to write a will – but often forget it's important to keep it updated too. Relationships change, the things you own change – and children grow up! So if it’s time to rethink your will, don’t forget it's Remember A Charity in your will week. If a charity has touched your life, or the life of someone you care about, then please consider saying thank you by leaving them a gift in your will. No matter how big or small, your gift can make a difference. 💛 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eWjtk8xY #CharityFundraising #Willanthropy #GiftsInWills

Have you written your will yet? It’s not hard, and this week is a good time to do it – because it’s 'Remember A Charity in your Will’ week. This is an annual celebration of the power and impact of legacy giving. Don’t know what that ‘legacy giving’ is? We can explain. Around £3 in every £10 donated to charity comes through a gift in someone’s will - a legacy gift. It makes a huge difference, and some of the nation’s best loved charities just wouldn’t exist without them. There are all kinds of reasons someone may choose to leave a gift to charity in their will. For example, as a thank you for the support they or a loved one has received; because they believe in the cause; because they want to leave something meaningful behind. You can choose any charity that’s close to your heart, whether that’s supporting arts and music, protecting the environment, pioneering life-saving treatment or supporting people in your local community through some of the toughest times in their lives. Whatever you can leave will make a difference. 💛 Find out more at https://lnkd.in/efQw3yx4 (And tick 'write my will' off your to-do list. Because if not now, when?) #CharityFundraising #LegacyGiving #CharityChampion #willanthropy #GiftsinWills

It’s probably no surprise – but this September, we’re proud to be joining forces with hundreds of charities, professional advisers, and partners across the UK to celebrate Remember A Charity Week. 💛 Did you know around £3 in every £10 donated to charity comes through gifts in wills? These donations make a huge difference, and some of the nation’s most loved charities simply wouldn’t exist without them. The UK ‘Willanthropy’ movement continues to grow thanks to the generous acts of everyday people. We’re proud to play our part in supporting charities large and small with their year-round legacy programmes too. This week, by working together with Remember A Charity we hope to inspire even more people to leave a lasting legacy. Remember A Charity Week (9-15 September 2024) is an annual celebration of the power and impact of legacy giving. Throughout the week, partners, solicitors, will-writers, charities and others will be championing the legacy message, encouraging people across the country to help build a brighter future by leaving a gift in their will. In the five years since we partnered with British Heart Foundation, they've generated close to close to £34 million estimated future income through gifts in wills. This could help fund 34 five-year research programmes into heart and circulatory disease. What an incredible legacy people are leaving 💛 #GiftsInWills #LegacyGiving #CharityFundraising

According to research conducted by Legacy Foresight, donations to charity in memory of a loved one are on the rise. They've also found that “in-memory fundraising sees average return of £26 for every pound spent”. Gifts in wills already play a huge part in supporting charities (as you’ll know if you’ve read some of our previous posts!). Now we’re offering our customers the opportunity to name a charity they’d like to support when they set up a funeral plan with Farewill Funerals too. Naming a charity in your plan is simple and quick to do – and there’s no obligation for your family or friends. But should they choose to raise money, they’ll know which charity to support. If you’d like to find out more about setting up a legacy giving programme, either through gifts in wills, or through funeral plans, just get in touch. Here’s a link to the research: https://lnkd.in/eQPy3e8Y And you can find out more about the Farewill Funerals plan too: https://lnkd.in/epKCBDb9 #LegacyGiving #CharityFundRaising #InMemoryGiving
