About us
We believe the key to long-lasting architecture is the ability not only to adapt to change but to actively reimagine the human experience. Our purpose is to create buildings and places that function as catalysts for sustainable communities and generate a clear sense of belonging. To achieve this we combine our enthusiasm and respect for everyday life with data and knowledge accumulated from decades of experience.

We’re delighted to announce that Teesside University Bios has been shortlisted in the RIBA / RIBA North East Awards 2025! This follows the building's Breeam Assessment ‘Outstanding’ certification in sustainability, awarded at the start of the year. Bios is a state-of-the-art laboratory and clinical skills facility at the university, which supports the training of the next generation of nurses, paramedics, pharmacists and professionals in other sciences. “These projects all represent a desire to make an impact on and improve their communities; from state of the art university buildings in Teesside, new infrastructure for Sunderland and the Farrell Centre in Newcastle.” - RIBA North East Jury Chair, Amy Waite See the full shortlist of projects: https://lnkd.in/eKidhJCe #RIBAawards Photography: Richard Chivers

Celebrating its 18th year running, National Apprenticeship Week 2025 comes at a critical time. As we face future government funding for such built environment apprenticeships at risk of being withdrawn, it feels more important than ever to emphasise the value of apprenticeships in architecture. As a practice that helped establish the Architect Degree Apprenticeship at Northumbria University at its outset, we continue to support apprentices who are gaining full-time, practical experience in architecture while studying. Our latest Studio Story celebrates this significant, diverse route into architecture, sharing the value of our apprentices’ (Dan Hodgson, Fraser T., Ken Alford, Nicoleta Coman, Adam Nightingale) experiences. https://lnkd.in/eMUnFtAj #NAW2025 #NationalApprenticeshipWeek

Fantastic news! Best of luck to all involved in February.
We're celebrating! The Pineapple Awards shortlist is out and we're delighted that Lee Valley Ice Centre is a finalist in the Climate Resilience category. Lee Valley Ice Centre was designed with sustainability at its core by architects FaulknerBrowns. Collaboration with Expedition Engineering Ltd means ice melt from the twin rink centre is filtered and used to sustain an ecologically rich wetland habitat outside the centre, whilst 300 solar panels provide power inside, green roofs, and landscape design and planting by LDA Design includes wildflower meadows, wildlife corridors and 150 new native trees. The centre's ecological credentials are now the centre of a Sustainability in Action programme for local school children run by our Learning and Engagement team in partnership with London Borough of Waltham Forest The Pineapples 🍍 recognise projects that make a positive social, environmental and economic impact in their communities. #Pineapples Joanna Asia Milewska Max Fordham LLP GLL The Developer and Festival of Place Dan Buck Stephen Bromberg shaun dawson Alison Moore (nee Halstead) Caroline Jenkins Jacob Ranson Tom Lee
