On Thursday 11 July, all six members of the Group Operating Executive (GOE), three members of the Bailey family and 22 London based colleagues undertook the London Bridges Charity Challenge. The team took to the pavements of London to walk 15 miles, following the path of the River Thames and crossing 16 of London’s most historic bridges along the way. The team raised vital funds for The Brain Tumour Charity, an organisation dedicated to saving lives and funding research to fight brain tumours. To date, they have raised a staggering £9,858, a fantastic 179% of their original target! All monies raised will be matched by NG Bailey. Our Freedom business has achieved a key milestone just four months into an £8 million power supply upgrade project in Southampton for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN). The first transformer has been completed, marking a significant step toward energizing the newly upgraded North Baddesley infrastructure. This upgrade will make connections more resilient and increase capacity, benefiting 7,500 homes and businesses. Martin Tyler, SAP Project Manager, commented “SSEN and Freedom have been working closely together on this project. The work we're doing on the substation is really going to benefit the local community. Our apprentices are gearing up for a charity walk next month to raise funds for CRASH, the UK construction industry’s charity, of which we are a Corporate Patron. A team of 10 apprentices, currently working across different areas of our business, will embark on an 11-mile circular walk around Buttermere in the Lake District. CRASH partners with homeless charities and hospice organisations, using construction expertise to support the most vulnerable. As a Corporate Patron, our employees are encouraged to get involved helping us to support the vital projects CRASH undertakes. Last week we celebrated our 2022 graduate cohort, who have successfully completed their two-year graduate development programme with the business. Our six rising stars, who have graduated in different disciplines, attended their final event, and graduation ceremony, at our Leeds office. As part of their day, our successful graduates were asked to deliver their corporate social responsibility project presentation to members of our senior leadership teams. This was followed by a short presentation about their development journeys with us, which detailed what they have learned and delivered as part of their graduate programmes, together with their career development plans for their next steps.
