Huge congratulations to IMG and European Tour Productions on their win for Sustainability Project of the Year at the Broadcast Sport Awards!   Their ground-breaking initiative, Project Hydrogen, showcased how live global broadcasting can be achieved with zero emissions. The judges aptly described it as a project that “will set the bar for live broadcast sustainability projects going forward.”   We’re thrilled to have powered this innovative project, alongside partners Film and TV Services and Aggreko, providing clean, reliable energy with zero harmful emissions via our Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) fuelled by green hydrogen. We're thrilled to share highlights from Element 1’s recent demonstration day in Manchester, where the project's dual-fuel hydrogen excavators were showcased for the first time! The project, led by BAM UK & Ireland, is a collaborative government-funded initiative supported by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Hear from Tej Chadeesingh, R&D Engineer at GeoPura, as he discusses GeoPura’s role in this innovative project. Working alongside partners from BAM UK & Ireland, Skanska, Flannery Plant Hire, Plantforce, ULEMCo Ltd, Reynolds Logistics, BRE, and Constructing Excellence, we’re delivering an end-to-end hydrogen solution that significantly reduces diesel consumption by around 30% per machine! GeoPura’s role as the hydrogen supply and refuelling partner for Element 1 includes providing green hydrogen, a HPU hydrogen powered generator for zero-emission power, and an off-grid hydrogen refuelling solution to refill the excavators. Proving that sustainable power solutions can seamlessly integrate into construction operations, even when there is no grid connection available. The dual-fuel excavators and GeoPura’s HPU are already making an impact at Manchester’s Victoria North site by offsetting carbon emissions and providing clean energy for site facilities. Take a behind-the-scenes look with GeoPura at Latitude Festival! This summer, our Hydrogen Power Unit (HPU) brought clean, reliable energy to key parts of the festival’s village area, including the medical and welfare stations, merchandise stands, VIP camping, and the recycling and waste sorting hub. By replacing HVO generators, we helped reduce harmful emissions and improve air quality, all while ensuring the village area ran smoothly. During the 2024 US Hydrogen & CCUS Delegation, the UK Business and Trade - North America Clean Energy team organized the UK Hydrogen Supply Chain roundtable in the storied Locarno Suite at King Charles Street. The topics for the roundtable were hydrogen production (electrolytic and CCUS-enabled) and hydrogen offtake, which showcased several of the UK's leading #hydrogen technology and project developers, including: 💡 EET Hydrogen - Joe Seifert 💡 HiiROC - Simon Morris 💡 GeoPura - Tiffany Scott 💡 ITM Power - James Collins 💡 Pilkington United Kingdom Limited - Chris Dye 💡 Progressive Energy - Chris Manson-Whitton 💡 Siemens Energy - Tyler Clifford Brett Ryan reviewed the findings of Hydrogen UK's recent UK Hydrogen Supply Chain Strategic Assessment and UK Export Finance discussed its role in developing the UK supply chain. We went on to discuss how partnerships across the #hydrogenvaluechain are vital in de-risking these #worldfirst hydrogen projects. Some key discussion points included: 🌱 Government support is essential and UK Government policies like the Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard (LCHS) and Low Carbon Hydrogen Agreement (LCHA) private law contract mechanism, although not perfect, will provide revenue support to hydrogen producers to overcome the operating cost gap between low carbon hydrogen and high carbon fuels. 🌱 The UK needs to create broader hydrogen market demand by encouraging growth in the number offtake agreements. Early stage partnerships between industrial emitters/offtakers, technology providers, and government are crucial, as highlighted by the success of the UK's HyNet Industrial Cluster. 🌱 UK Government and private industry investment in hydrogen transportation and storage networks, specifically geological and compressed storage in the short-term, is needed to reduce project CAPEX costs and unlock additional long term hydrogen investments. The UK Government understands more work is needed to support the growing #hydrogeneconomy and stands ready to work with industry, non-profit, and local communities. As an example, UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed just today that £2bn ($2.6bn) of funding for 11 #greenhydrogen projects totalling 125MW of capacity. We’re delighted to share that our CEO, Andrew Cunningham was awarded the prestigious Stewart Dow Memorial Award 2024 presented by the Hydrogen Energy Association and Hydrogen Scotland in recognition of outstanding contributions to the hydrogen and fuel cell industry, at the Hydrogen Scotland Conference in Glasgow.   Commenting on the award, Andrew said: “I’m delighted and honoured to have been chosen to receive the Stewart Dow Memorial Award. I’m delighted because the best compliments are those you get from people who really know what they’re talking about, and I’m honoured because it means that my name and what we’re doing at GeoPura is being mentioned in the same breath as the enthusiasm and drive that Stewart Dow brought to all that he did for our industry. We build together from here!”   Andrew and the GeoPura team are at the Hydrogen Scotland Conference in Glasgow today discussing hydrogen power and industry collaboration.

GeoPura’s Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) are powering Project Re:claim, the UK’s first commercial-scale polyester recycling plant in Kettering. This joint venture between Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) and Plan B (Project Plan B) tackles polyester textile waste while driving the industry towards a circular economy. Until a suitable grid connection is established, which may take 12-18 months, our hydrogen-powered generators are ensuring the site has a reliable, sustainable power supply that can withstand the demands of the plant - without fossil fuels! Our involvement in Project Re:claim demonstrates the versatility of hydrogen power and its ability to support large-scale sustainability projects.
