With Christmas just around the corner, #teamgkr decided to have a bit of fun in the office to get us into the festive spirit. With today's #WorldMentalHealthDay being themed around the workplace, GKR Group Ltd have been passing the smiles around the employees. The office got a healthy breakfast to start the day along with wellness giftbags complete with stressballs, a facemask and of course a sweet treat. Our mobile engineers got an allowance for a "lunch that makes them happy", and we had three lucky winners for our surprise raffle for Love2Shop vouchers - Congratulations Alison, Jonny and Dave! Some of the #teamgkr made use of my availability as a Mental Health First Aider, something we are going to develop and implement across the business following the positive feedback. While today is only one day, Mental Health impacts us all whether it is personally or through family, friends or work colleagues, it's important to check in everyday. You don't know what is hiding behind someone's smile and "I'm fine" and how many lives you could save by just being kind. Don't struggle in silence, especially in the workplace. There are always people there to listen.

It is with great pleasure that we officially announce the part acquisition of Volt Group Scotland Ltd 🏴, a business we have worked with closely over the past few years through long established personal relationships and working partnerships. Volt have two core business offerings, the first being electrical maintenance and project services, the second being commercial renewable technology solutions focussing on EV charging and solar PV. The range of specialist services on offer perfectly compliments GKR's existing service lines, allowing for more direct delivery within our existing M&E building service agreements, and a broader offering in relation to electrical and renewable technology project works. The two businesses will remain as separate entities working closely in partnership to offer one of the broadest specialist scopes, in terms of direct delivery, available in the market today. With both companies on track for significant growth in 2024 / 25 we expect a combined turnover of £15M, with over 100 staff in total, and over 65 directly employed mobile engineers.

GKR Facilities Services have been successful in a competitive tender process with a leading student accommodations provider and will be delivering a range of mechanical, electrical and building fabric services across seven locations in Scotland. Delivery includes statutory compliance maintenance, a 24 hour reactive / remedial works service and associated project services. The win adds to our already extensive client base within the student accommodation sector procured through partnership, sector specific experience and a commitment to the highest level of service delivery. Well done to our PBSA teams and everyone involved in the bid process.

Back in January we filmed our second podcast with special guest Paul Rowley from Tweed Business Advisory / Tweed Wealth Management, in a single take. We decided at the time not to post due to some issues with the sound which occurred as a result of background noise from an unusually busy day in the office. Since then we've been busy working away on a number of projects, including our first successful part acquisition of another business.
