Our 30-year roadmap to green our homes and contribute to the UK net-zero targets features a number of large-scale approaches, including retrofit work, building new energy efficient homes, and introducing greener energy sources. But there are also crucial smaller steps we can all take, across our business and the wider sector. Ensuring our waste management practices are effective is one of these steps. Last year alone, our commitment to ensuring we comply with green and sustainable waste management practices saved the equivalent energy to power 52,643 British homes for one day. That's almost the equivalent of our entire housing stock powered for a day! Colleagues across all functions of our business play a role in ensuring we maintain these sustainable waste management practices, and we continue to champion new innovations around sustainability. #SocialHousing #Sustainability #WasteManagement

As a national housing association, we have development projects underway across the country delivering much needed affordable housing, and in many places, utilising our strong connections with local and national housebuilders. However, we can't lose sight of the importance of not only building new affordable and social homes, but building the right homes to meet the needs of our local communities. This is why it is important we remain embedded closely within our communities and delivering a range of homes. Recently across Uttlesford, we have seen this in action, with a number of different schemes now completed or underway which will bring more than 200 new affordable homes of all varying types, sizes and tenure to the local, rural communities across the district. We couldn't deliver these homes and projects without collaboration from our partners, and we will continue to use the skills and learning we gain from each new development to further improve our delivery on the next. #SocialHousing #Development #Essex #Uttlesford

Supporting our communities is extremely important to us, and we know the pride our customers, colleagues and partners take in the places we live and work. It is why it is so encouraging when we hear stories of our colleagues and contractors coming together to make a difference. Just recently in Cumbria, colleagues and partners came together to collaborate on a full refurbishment of Broughton Community Centre Kitchen. The kitchen is in daily use and is a hive of community activities. It plays a key role in providing support, daily clubs, activities and much more - so to see it given a new lease of life will make a big difference to the people in our local community. Across the housing sector, we have skills and a strong social purpose and it is important that we come together to use those to positively support our local communities. #SocialHousing #Communities

We all have a duty to deliver greater numbers of social housing across the UK, but it is just as important that these homes are not only affordable and accessible, but of a high quality too. Social housing plays a vital role in so many peoples' lives, but being a social tenant shouldn't mean sacrificing the standards they expect of their home. Across all of our developments, ensuring our new homes are built to a top standard and meet the local needs are core commitments. In Keswick, in Cumbria, our homes at The View are some of the best examples of this. The development took advantage of a small plot of land which became available and now provides a number of vital social and affordable homes for local people - and with simply breathtaking views, allowing our residents to enjoy the very best Cumbria has to offer. #SocialHousing #Development #Cumbria
