🌳In Eastern DRC, local youth are adopting trees for peace. Find out why ➡️ https://ow.ly/1cm550TNGFS Joseph Tsongo writes about the 'adopt a tree, not a weapon' initiative by local youth organisation, Amani-Institute ASBL. 🌱"Each tree planted represents an act of mental and physical reconstruction, a gesture of resistance against violence, and a direct contribution to the reconstruction of Congolese forests and the protection of biodiversity" Read the full article here: https://ow.ly/1cm550TNGFS

Holidays are over for most of us, so it is finally time to share something before starting the year! ☀️ Late July, I published my first article about a project I implemented from the conception to the implementation, including administrative, logistical and financial aspects 🥳 ‘Challenging conflict-related narratives through theatre in Armenia’ is a small contribution to a year of field work with youth from the Lori region in Armenia and the post-conflict reconstruction of the country. Facilitating these workshops was an incredible experience who allowed me to dive quiclky into the complexity of Armenian society and learn a lot about post-conflict reconstruction and conflict-related traumas of youth. This also enabled me to experience an innovative data-collection method with direct impact on people! 🇦🇲 💡Here is a few questions that pushed me to use this method and link the construction of peace with creativity: 🤔Did you ever feel that you had difficulties in involving people, especially youth in peacebuilding and conflict transformation processes? 🤔Did you ever feel that your training and project were always involving the same type of people? With this innovative method adapted to youth, insights are even deeper and more interesting, young people feel really interested and considered. Read the details of the project by reading the article here 👉🏽 https://lnkd.in/e2ieHJ94 Thank you to all Peace Dialogue NGO team members, as well as our partners in several countries of the South Caucasus and ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) for funding the project! A special thank you to my amazing colleague Rima who implemented the project with me and to the Peace Insight team with Jennifer Venis who made the publication possible! 😊🙌🏽 🔜 More insights on this interesting project, its impact, learnings and good practices to come soon! #conflicttransformation #peacebuilding #theatreoftheoppressed #youth

The stories of local women peacebuilders do not often make headlines. One day upon my visit to Gambella, my hometown, I found Ariet, a former colleague, talking to some women about peace over coffee. In the midst of violence and despair, she was converting women's traditional spaces into places for peace dialogues and trust building. We agreed to write a brief story about her work and thanks to Peace Insight for publishing it. Take part in this important global study from Humanitarian Aid International ⬇️
Global Study – The Status Of Humanitarian Frontline Workers #HAI together with CWSA, COAST Bangladesh, ECOWEB and The Research People, is conducting a global study on the current working conditions and challenges faced by humanitarian frontline workers operating in different humanitarian contexts. The study is coordinated by Humanitarian Aid International (HAI), sponsored by CWSA and supported by The Research People. We are inviting humanitarian workers worldwide to complete the below survey exploring your current working environment and terms and conditions, and how this impacts you. The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete. The survey is anonymous – we will not ask for your name or organisation name. Survey Questionnaire for Humanitarian Frontline Workers By participating, you will help the humanitarian sector better understand the challenges and realities frontline workers face in different contexts and organisations, to advocate for safer and fairer employment opportunities. Please submit one response.
