“It's a silent issue that can get pushed under the radar and no one realises.... some developers are overpaying on unnecessary gas measures while some are underestimating the risk.” “Awareness needs to be raised and there needs to be a more pro-active approach from government to ensure regulators are equipped to deal with these risks.” “We need to get professional judgement back, not just looking at the numbers.” Some quotes from our panel discussion to close the National Contaminated Land Officers #nclog Ground Gas Forum today. Thanks to all attendees and our brilliant speakers, Amy Juden, Matthew Lennard, Darren Beriro, Aliyssa Glen and the Ground Gas double act that is @John Naylor and Neil Salvidge!

How can what we know support a transformative approach to change? https://bit.ly/445hanp Between late 2023 and early 2025, the IES undertook a project examining the role of knowledge in environmental policy. This report, 'Knowledge in a world of transformative change', summarises the key outcomes of that project, setting out six key components of transformative evidence-informed action, as well as six 'frames' that can be used to support a transformative approach. Read the report to learn more about the project and the role that knowledge plays in the transition to a sustainable society.

Your experience could change a career, why not share it? We’re looking for more of our members to join our mentoring platform and support the next generation of environmental scientists. With our platform in high demand, we need more mentors to meet the growing interest. Mentoring is a rewarding experience for both mentors and mentees - why not give it a try? https://lnkd.in/eUBjugM6

We're pleased to be able to share our last Turning the Tide wrap-up report 🌊 'Marine conservation and restoration’ explores the opportunities and challenges associated with conservation and restoration work in the marine and coastal environment. You can read the full report, along with the other three publications, at the link below. The UN Ocean Decade-endorsed ‘Turning the Tide: systems thinking for a sustainable ocean’ project covered four key themes in marine and coastal science from a systems thinking perspective: ‘Bridging the gap between land and sea’; ‘Blue carbon’; ‘Blue economy’; and ‘Marine conservation and restoration’. Now all four themes have been published, we'll be compiling them into one longer publication to act as a permanent record of Turning the Tide. Keep an eye out! 🌊 If you haven’t already joined, why not become part of the IES’ Marine and Coastal Sciences Community? You can also request to join our Marine and Coastal Science LinkedIn group to connect with like-minded peers working, or interested in, the sector. More details at the link below! 🔗Read the reports here: https://lnkd.in/ew5MrvK6

Climate change has complex and innumerable effects on our health, but some of these are more visible than others. In their technical article, Emma Marczylo, Emma-Jane Goode and colleagues from the UK Health Security Agency explore the latest findings on how climate change can impact mould and fungi growth in our homes, leading to negative health impacts for the most vulnerable in society https://lnkd.in/enW5q-FT
