Nice to feature in today's Bloomberg article on Nigeria's corn crop, regional production issues and inflation by Simba Gumbo. “Nigeria has been steadily losing corn acreage to other crops and also due to challenges such as high input costs and insecurity in agricultural region,” Jon Pierre CEO of Mantle Labs said “However, corn production looks set to be on par with last year as a rebound in yields makes up for reduced planting” he added. 🌍 Partnership Announcement 🌍 Gold Standard has partnered with Mantle Labs, a UK-based leader in remote sensing and AI technology, to assess how artificial intelligence can lower barriers to carbon finance for smallholder rice farmers in Vietnam. In collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Business Partnerships Platform (BPP), this initiative aims to scale carbon market access for sustainable rice producers. Mantle Labs will leverage its advanced AI technology to assess and demonstrate its potential in reducing barriers and enhancing the efficiency of processes involved in carbon finance for rice production. This project holds significant potential for both the carbon market and sustainable agriculture, particularly for smallholder farmers. “Artificial Intelligence holds transformative potential for the carbon market, particularly in streamlining and enhancing the efficiency of processes involved in carbon finance,” said Jon Pierre, CEO of Mantle Labs. 🔗 Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/ek2WF5d9 #Sustainability #ClimateAction #CarbonFinance #AI #GoldStandard

We are pleased to announce that Mantle Labs has been chosen to support Gold Standard to assess how Harnessing Artificial Intelligence can help lower barriers to access carbon finance for sustainable rice producers 🌾 Through this partnership with Gold Standard, and in association with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, we will focus on leveraging AI to streamline project development processes and reduce barriers to carbon finance by integrating cutting-edge technology into the development cycle of low-emissions rice projects. Key highlights of our project: ✅ Conducting a high-level assessment of each stage in the development cycle of rice projects. ✅ Identifying typical barriers faced by project developers. ✅ Exploring how AI can address these barriers, with examples from carbon markets and other contexts. ✅ Demonstrating an application of AI in a practical setting Rice cultivation provides one-fifth of calories consumed worldwide but is also responsible for at least 12% of global methane emissions, making it a critical project type in carbon markets. At Mantle Labs, we strive to integrate advanced technologies and deliver high-integrity, scalable solutions that empower project developers and inspire greater confidence among stakeholders. The results of the assessment and demonstration will be published later in 2024. #SustainableRice #AI #CarbonCredits #ClimateAction
