The rich history of Caribbean cricket in #Nottingham is going to be recorded in print following an event dedicated to harvesting memories of how cricket helped the Windrush generation and their families to settle in the city. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club's community engagement officer, Farah Khan, is working with the Windrush Cricket Project to gather oral histories from Caribbean cricketers. Farah organised an event last month, which coincided with Trent Bridge hosting the Men’s Test against West Indies, when the club was welcomed into the project. Held at the African-Caribbean National Artistic Centre, and featuring former England quick Devon Malcolm, memories of Caribbean cricket in Nottingham were shared and celebrated. Farah has been working with the Windrush Cricket Project to gather oral histories from Caribbean cricketers. The project, seed-funded by the Cultural Lab at University College London and supported by Caribbean Cricket Archives and This Is Black Britain, will compile the histories into a book and journals. A convoy of 55 Harley Davidson bikers has delivered the ashes of the legendary Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead to #Nottingham's Rock City following the close of this year’s Bloodstock festival. The specially-created Lemmy Forever memorial urn commissioned by Bloodstock has now taken up residence at Rock City where Motörhead played on many occasions. This is where they will remain on public display to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Lemmy and Motörhead before returning to their primary home at Bloodstock each August. Twenty-three cultural, entertainment, place marketing, theatre, and local authority organisations have already signed to express their support. A landmark partnership between the University of Nottingham and Notts County Football Club is set to deliver exciting new developments in sporting performance, community enrichment and education for the city. The new collaboration, which brings those two iconic institutions together for the first time, will see the football club benefit from the university’s state-of-the-art facilities, ground-breaking research and international links, while the club will provide amazing opportunities for the university’s students to gain real-world insights and experience within elite sport. The start of the relationship is being marked by the university’s logo being proudly displayed on the club’s brand new away and third kit designs unveiled earlier today ahead of the 2024-25 season. We're pleased to announce that Nottingham Partners' chairman Paul Southby has been revealed as the the keynote speaker for this year’s East Midlands Bricks Awards, taking place on Thursday 3rd October, at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. Celebrating the property and construction industry, the East Midlands Bricks Awards showcase the outstanding work of those shaping the landscape of our region. Our CEO, Megan Powell Vreeswijk in her statement encouraged entries for those prestigious awards: 'The property industry, construction, and regeneration, quite literally lays the foundations for any city to thrive and grow.
