Exciting to see the article on ‘Decarbonising the Past’ published by Lichfields! Ross Hailey, Director at Martin Arnold, joined experts from Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects, Newlon Housing Trust, and Lichfields UK to discuss the critical topic of decarbonisation and how we can approach transforming historic and existing buildings for a sustainable future. The article highlights a fascinating case study that explores innovative solutions for retrofitting and reducing carbon footprints in older structures, paving the way for a more sustainable built environment. Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gtHhV-7Z #Decarbonisation #Sustainability #Construction #Retrofitting #Planning #GreenBuilding #FutureofArchitecture
This insight highlights the urgent need to retrofit existing social housing to meet the UK's Net Zero targets. Newlon Housing Trust's Old Barnsbury Estate showcases both the challenges and opportunities of improving energy efficiency in older buildings, particularly where traditional methods are impractical. While innovative solutions have been proposed, a lack of government funding has stalled progress, reflecting a broader issue in the UK's approach to deep retrofitting. We were excited to be part of the Charlton Athletic Community Trust Employability Workshop, which took place on 6th March 2025 at Valley Central. Our Health & Safety Advisor, Kyle-Renelle Mullings, in collaboration with United Living Group, delivered a workshop focused on health and safety in the construction industry, with some practical activities. Additionally, our Director, Tom Hopkins, participated in a panel discussion with Potter Raper and Faithorn Farrell Timms where they shared their personal journeys into the construction industry. These workshops were designed for individuals enrolled in the EFL Training Ground employability programme, an initiative run by the English Football League (EFL) in the Community. This programme helps young people aged 16-24 who face employment barriers, to develop job skills through mentoring, workshops, work experience and wellbeing support, using football as a tool for engagement. The goal of the event was to provide valuable insights into the wide range of job opportunities available in the construction sector and to encourage attendees to take further steps toward skill development, with support from CACT and the scheme partners. The event was a great success, with a strong turnout of attendees eager to explore career paths in construction and motivated to pursue further development in the industry. #EmployabilityWorkshop #ConstructionIndustry #SkillDevelopment #ConstructionCareers #MartinArnold #CareerOpportunities #CommunityEngagement #CACT #FutureSkills

The team at Martin Arnold had an insightful afternoon yesterday enhancing their understanding of legal responsibilities in fire protection. During our lunchtime CPD session, Fire Stopping: Understanding Your Liability with ROCKWOOL UK, we explored best practices to improve building safety. The session covered legal liability, the importance of effective compartmentation and how to identify poor installation practices. These insights will be invaluable in our work with clients on both asset management and new build developments, ensuring the highest standards of fire protection. #BuildingSafety #FireProtection #CPD #MartinArnold

We are proud to have supported Dulverton Primary School’s incredible artwork project, revealed on 27th February! The stunning mosaic celebrates the cultural diversity of the students, each of whom created a self-portrait to be featured on a world map, highlighting the wealth of backgrounds that make-up both the school and local area’s vibrant community. This initiative was delivered as part of our work on the Sidcup Library new build project with BexleyCo Homes where we have been providing multidisciplinary services on the town centre development which will deliver 32 quality apartments. Martin Arnold collaborated with Skillcrown, to contribute this artwork to the school, replacing the mosaics lost during the demolition phase of the existing building. We also gifted a large selection of much-needed art supplies, supporting learning and development as well as the creation of future masterpieces at the school! Now proudly displayed at the main entrance of Dulverton Primary School, the final piece serves as a lasting symbol of creativity, inclusivity and cross-sector collaboration.
