Did you spot our CEO and Founder, Adam Root, in BusinessGreen? In this spotlight series, Adam talks about Matter's journey so far, the story behind Regen.®, and debunks the myth that sustainable solutions aren't commercially viable. 'The biggest misconception we face is that sustainable solutions aren't commercially viable. The opposite can be true. For the textiles industry and apparel brands, implementing Regen.® can reduce operational costs by reducing chemical treatments and energy usage.' 📰Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e2AgidPi

We are so proud to see Regen.® for Textile Production featured in Sourcing Journal’s 2025 Sustainability Report! Huge thanks to Paradise Textiles (Alpine Group )- collaboration like this is key to tackling microfibre pollution at scale. 💚
The changing political climate in the United States seems to have shifted sustainability lower down the list of priorities with the official exit from the Paris Agreement and a commitment to increase fossil fuel extraction. This has created uncertainty among businesses wishing to align their efforts with future government sustainability requirements. That said, the underlying drivers of a sustainable future—innovation, tapping into cost-efficient renewable energy, and consumer demand for ethical practices—remain intact. 📢'Of all the microplastics I found, 99% were microfibres.' In our latest episode of 'In Conversation with: Liberty Turrell', Liberty unveils shocking findings from her research, revealing that most of the microplastics found in the samples were microfibres. Despite their tiny size, synthetic fibres are one of the largest contributors to the microplastic pollution crisis. One third of the world's ocean based microplastics originate from textiles and clothing. ⏯️This is just one piece of the wider picture. Watch the full episode on our YouTube channel to learn more about Liberty’s findings. https://lnkd.in/evvmxu8r #microplastics #microfibres #microfibers #microfibrepollution #plasticpollution

Over recent years, microplastics and their impacts have gained more and more traction in the media. Initially, coverage began with the impacts of microplastics on our environment, but now the emphasis has moved to the impact we feel on our health. In February, microplastics continued to feature in headlines and articles across the world... 🐬Sydney’s outdated sewer system releases billions of microplastics into the ocean daily, with experts urging better treatment to protect marine life. 🧑⚖️Oregon lawmakers are proposing bills to ban thicker plastic bags, restrict single-use plastics in businesses, and require washing machines to have microfiber filters to reduce plastic pollution in waterways. 🧠A new study found increasing amounts of microplastics in human brains, with potential links to dementia, while experts urge action to reduce plastic exposure despite uncertainties about health effects. 📺During 'SNL50', Rachel Dratch’s Debbie Downer humorously highlighted the microplastics crisis, joking that we're "walking landfills" and that plastics have invaded human bodies. 🏄California's polystyrene ban took effect on January 1, but environmentalists fear industry interference and government silence could derail its implementation and broader plastic reduction efforts under SB 54. 🫧Many popular chewing gum brands contain hidden plastics that contribute to microplastic pollution, prompting campaigners to call for a UK ban on plastic gum to protect public health and the environment. https://lnkd.in/gv9xK6zt What headlines have caught your eye this month? #microplastics #technology #filtration
