  • A day of remembrance in Scotswood🕯️ On Saturday, Lord Mayor Cllr Rob Higgins joined the community at St Margaret’s Church to mark 100 years since the Montagu pit disaster, which took 38 lives. Powerful paintings from local artists and heartfelt stories from families brought home the impact of this tragedy. Huge thanks to Scotswood Village Residents Association for their dedication in keeping these memories alive 🤍

  • Empowering our city's young people together 🤝 We are proud to have supported Newcastle United Foundation and Inspire Youth to secure £450,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to continue their invaluable services for the city's young people over the next two years. This funding will provide: • Youth Outreach Service: Providing youth support and engagement 6 nights a week in the city centre • NUCASTLE Junior and Senior Youth Hub: Operating 3 nights a week to offer a safe and supportive space for children and young people to participate in sports and youth activities. Congratulations also to Hattrick who have secured £174,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to continue their valuable work providing positive experiences and better opportunities for residents of the Jubilee Estate in Elswick. A special thank you to the National Lottery players who make these grants possible, and a huge well done to everyone involved in securing this vital funding. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our young people 🌟 🎉

  • "This is what we are about" 👊 Those are the words of our leader, Cllr Karen Kilgour, who has thanked fans, council workers and partners after a day Newcastle will never forget yesterday. Cllr Kilgour is a season ticket holder who bleeds black and white and was there at wembley a fortnight ago to see Eddie and the team bring the cup home. She has already got the ball rolling on giving Eddie freedom of the city and was adamant that a bus parade would take place on the streets of Newcastle. What a celebration it was, with Cllr Kilgour also taking to the stage at the Town Moor to address the hundreds of thousands of fans who had turned out She has today praised everyone who ensure the event went ahead without a hitch, and those involved in the subsequent clean up operation. 🗣 "What a day for Newcastle. I am bursting with pride because we showed the entire world what us Geordies are all about. Passion, joy and unity. "Hundreds of thousands of fans turned out and I don't think we gave ever seen anything like it. These are memories that will stay with families for years and years. "I want to thank everyone who attended, who were patient as we tried to get you all home and who helped make this occasion everything we dreamed it would be. "I want to say thank you to all those who made it possible. To the council workers who have put on an event equivalent to Glastonbury in less than two weeks, I salute you. "Thank you to our partners across the city, particularly the police and transport providers, who have been under immense pressure for this to run smoothly. "And thank you to the club. For putting on an event that will cement itself in our city's history and for working hand in hand with ourselves and agencies across the city. "I was honoured to speak on the Town Moor stage and to see the joy on people's faces was incredible. It took me back two weeks to when I watched on from the Wembley terraces to see Eddie and the team get the win. "But I am equally proud to witness the council clean up teams who worked quickly to leave our city sparkling and remove ten tonnes of waste. "This is what we are about. One club, one city. United in front of a global audience who will all be wishing they could be a part of what is happening here in Newcastle." One city, one club 🖤

  • High vis heroes in a sea of black and white 💛 Meet some of the incredible clean up team who were on duty this weekend to clear more than 10 tonnes of waste. They were already picking up litter as the parade made its way through town, meaning roads could be opened quicker and fans could get home. Without dedicated council workers like this, events like yesterday simply wouldn't have been possible. They are the unsung heroes in high vis. We thank you for your hard work, we are so proud at what you achieve, thank you from us and the people of Newcastle. One city, one club 👊

  • Newcastle is sparkling 🌟 A phenomenal effort by our clean up crews who were straight into action as the Newcastle United celebration parade continued through the city. Their swift action meant roads could quickly re-open and help get everyone home as quickly as possible. They are back out this morning and have already collected an estimated 10 TONNES of waste to take to our waste and recycling centres. That is on top of the great people of Newcastle who took a lot of their own rubbish home with them. It was an amazing day yesterday, with amazing people, showing the very best of Newcastle. One city. One club 🖤

  • What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a child clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping their parent's hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath them and, without being able to do a thing about it... Falling in love 🖤

  • Thank you, Newcastle 🖤 A special day that we’ll never forget. A huge thanks to all who helped make today happen, and to the many workers out there keeping everyone safe and getting them back home. Let’s make sure everyone gets home safely.
