🎃 This Halloween, we're turning haunted houses into happy and healthy homes 🏠✨ We're asking our residents to take a closer look into the household repair issues that might be haunting their homes as we go into the colder months. We’re linking common repairs to “hauntings”, like “cold spots” for draughts and “mysterious sounds” for creaky floors. Our goal? To demystify maintenance and motivate residents to BOOk a property MOT, keeping their homes safe, healthy, and ghost-free. Our team said how great it was to hear the motivations behind the initiatives that we support. One colleague said: “It makes me feel that as an organisation we do not just pay lip service to diversity and inclusivity, but we also try to be proactive.” Last week we held an event for our team  to celebrate local Black-owned businesses and charities that we work with and support. This event focused on the theme of “reclaiming narratives” - the central theme of the Black History Month campaign for this year. We heard from two speakers who by growing confidence and leadership are reshaping the narratives of young people in Tower Hamlets. Leon, who grew up in Poplar and owns Roots Barbers and E14 Bikes, shared his initiative aimed at helping young people gain valuable skills and earn their own money. At Roots, young people are taught how to cut hair and are given the space to grow their clientele. By providing a supportive environment, Leon empowers young people to reshape their narratives and build brighter futures. His work exemplifies how mentorship can change lives. ✂️ Ceejay, from Pappa Young CiC and Future Kidz, is committed to mentoring father figures and training young leaders through sports. 🏆👟 Pappa Young CiC creates spaces for young people to connect with fathers, uncles, and other male role models through family fun days and Stay and Play clubs. Meanwhile, Future Kidz empowers people as young as nine to lead sports sessions for their peers. Ceejay believes strong role models are key to helping young people succeed both on and off the field. She’s also involved with St Joseph's Hospice She does SO MUCH for the local community that we wanted to give her a platform during this Black History Month to tell her incredible story. Our very own Blossom Young will be returning as judge of The Pineapples.
