Red Loft were pleased to attend the Swanlea School careers fair last week, showcasing our career opportunities with young, ambitious students. With over 400 students attending, it was brilliant to see such eager, young talent and discuss future careers in the affordable housing sector. Newly-appointed interim managing director of Be First Regeneration Limited, Caroline Harper, describes London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s unique scale of opportunity to provide new homes for aspirational working Londoners. With a 20% increase in the working-age population over the last decade, this is London’s engine room, she says, and alongside tens of thousands of new homes the borough is seeking to harness logistics and industrial regeneration serving the new Box Lane cross-channel railhead, and the £4.5bn Thames Freeport investment programme. Tomorrow marks International Women’s Day, a time to celebrate women across the world and continue the push for gender equality. At Red Loft, we have a strong female team, who make up over 60% of the business and hold key positions at every level of the organisation. Not only this but we are proud to support and work alongside Women in Property , WISH (Women In Social Housing) and Forging Links to champion the incredible women in our industry. On Monday, we held a special IWD celebration lunch in the office, enjoying delicious pizzas and mimosas- both the drink and the beautiful flower- which is a traditional symbol of female strength, sensitivity and resilience. While we celebrate, we also acknowledge the importance of driving change and taking action to achieve gender equality.
