Supporting local communities to collectively improve the future for young people.

About us

Right to Succeed supports communities in areas of high deprivation to work collectively to give children and young people the best start in life. We bring together residents, professionals and decision-makers to co-design a development programme that is bespoke to the needs of the local community. We call this way of working “place-based change”. We do this because we believe every child deserves the right to succeed, no matter where they live. The wealth of your parents still determines how well you do in education and in your career – we don’t think that’s right. Too many children in the UK are not getting the right start in life, leaving them unable to realise their full potential. We believe that no single organisation can solve this problem on their own, but together we can. If you are interested in finding out more, as a school, delivery partner, or potential funder, or would like to find out how you can support us in other ways – we’d love to hear from you!

The launch of the Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods, which will explore the challenges faced by England's most deprived neighbourhoods, is a positive step forward in tackling inequality and improving outcomes in ‘left behind’ areas. Chaired by former Social Exclusion Minister Baroness Hilary Armstrong, the Commission will analyse existing research, generate new insights and propose concrete actions that could improve the lives and prospects of people living in these areas. The Commission’s launch comes at a time when inequalities within, not just between, regions are becoming more pronounced than ever before. By empowering local residents, implementing place-based solutions and working collectively, we can support communities to improve their outcomes and ensure all children have the best start in life, no matter where they live. 👉 Find out more on the Commission’s website at: https://lnkd.in/e74PDVGF Local Trust

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. That is why we've joined forces with Place2Be and 42 other organisations to co-sign a letter to Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, urging her to address the issue of persistent school absence. Around 1 in 5 children (over 1.6 million) are persistently absent, missing out on vital education. Persistent absence can have long-lasting consequences, impacting a child's education, well-being, and future prospects. By investing in mental health and SEND support, creating inclusive schools, intervening early, and working closely with families, we can make a significant difference. Working together, we can ensure that every child has the support they need to reach their full potential and get the best start in life. A new independent report commissioned by Directors of Public Health and Population Health in Cheshire and Merseyside highlights the urgent need to end poverty in the sub- regions. Systems change is needed to improve the futures of 100,300 children and young people living in poverty. The full report can be read here 👉https://t.co/ofo96AiaPE Our Cradle to Career programmes in North Birkenhead and Liverpool City Region are designed to address the root causes of child poverty to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their potential. By providing early intervention, targeted support, and educational opportunities, the programme aims to break the cycle of poverty and create a more equitable society We believe in a collaborative approach to support children and families, which is why we put local people at the heart of decision-making. C2C brings together residents, local services, professionals, and community leaders to support the children and young people. We understand that no one organisation can solve a complex problem such as breaking the cycle of child poverty. But by working collectively we can begin to improve literacy standards, ensure access to high-quality and support families with access to services. Since its launch in 2021, our Cradle to Career flagship programme in North Birkenhead has increased the number of pupils with high reading ability in the borough by 42%. "The latest Office for National Statistics figures show NEET rates in the UK remain high at 12.2%, with 872,000 16 to 24-year-olds now out of work, education or training. This is nearly a quarter of a million more young people (228,000) than three years ago when NEET rates were at their lowest at 9.5%." (Youth Employment 2024 Outlook Report) - Youth Futures Foundation We have the opportunity to help create long-term, sustainable systems change through collective working, no organisation can solve complex problems such as youth unemployment alone, but by working together we can start to shift the dial on the issue. Our Connected Futures partnership in Blackpool is an example of how local organisations can join each other to share key learning, insight and practice, to improve outcomes for young people.
