The new UK government has said it's committed to upholding international law - but to do so means taking urgent action to address the hellish situation for children in the occupied Palestinian territory. What do people really think about the climate crisis? Our London volunteer Changemakers held a stall to collect the opinions of people from around the city on the climate crisis 🔥 The public wrote their concerns on leaves which we’ve made into a digital scrapbook, which the Changemakers have now sent to their MPs. Yesterday representatives from Save the Children and GSK, alongside partner organisations and academic institutions, came together to reflect on and celebrate a decade of collaborating to improve children’s health globally. Our ‘10 years of Global Health Excellence Symposium’, sponsored by GSK, explored the impact and learnings from our flagship programmes, unpacking the success factors and inhibitors to lasting change for several major health challenges of our time including pneumonia, immunization, community health systems and maternal and newborn health. ✨ Girls living in fragile countries are twice as likely to face child marriage ✨   When countries are impacted by wars or climate disasters, systems that protect girls—like law enforcement and healthcare—become weaker. This leaves them more vulnerable to poverty, violence, and child marriage. Globally, a girl is married every 3 minutes. But in fragile countries, it happens every 30 seconds.   At Save the Children, we’re working with girls at risk of child marriage to challenge harmful customs and create lasting change. In 2022, we opened the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Centre at Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan. Words can't describe the horrors children have been subjected to over the past year. More than 14,100 of Gaza's children have been killed by Israeli forces, but the actual number is undoubtedly even higher. More than 20,000 children are estimated to be missing – trapped under rubble, buried in unmarked graves, detained, or separated from their families in the chaos of the war. Nearly all 1.1 million children in Gaza are facing critical food insecurity. 37 Israeli children were killed during the 7 October attacks by Palestinian armed groups, and 36 Israeli children were taken hostage. What will it take for our leaders to take decisive action? We're continuing to urgently call for an immediate, definitive ceasefire to prevent further suffering, ensure safe humanitarian access, and the release of all hostages. #CeasefireNow #StopTheWarOnChildren #Gaza #SaveTheChildren

Sadly, we know children are always the first to suffer in any conflict. The past 12 months have destroyed childhoods across the region and torn families apart. In just one year, over 14,000 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli bombs, airstrikes, and bullets in Gaza. Over 20,000 children are missing, either lost, detained, buried under the rubble, or in mass graves. 37 Israeli children were killed during the 7 October attacks by Palestinian armed groups, and 36 Israeli children were taken hostage. Disturbingly, there is little information about the condition or whereabouts of remaining hostages. No child, no family, no matter where they're from, should have to experience these horrors. We condemn all violence committed against children. We need a #CeasefireNOW to protect the lives of all children and guarantee the return of all children taken hostage and detained.
