Proud to stand with every child.

About us

Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In more than 100 countries including the UK, we help children stay safe, healthy and keep learning. We lead the way on tackling big problems like pneumonia, hunger and protecting children in war, while making sure each child’s unique needs are cared for. We find new ways to reach children who need us most, no matter where they’re growing up. For a century, we’ve stood up for children and made sure their voices are heard. We wrote the treaty that sets out the rights of every child, and we’ve been upholding them every day since. We know we can’t do this alone. Together with children, supporters and partners, we work to help every child become who they want to be.

Many more lives are being torn apart as conflict spills into Lebanon. At least a million people have fled their homes there after the latest wave of attacks. Shelters are overwhelmed, and hospitals are struggling to treat the thousands of people who've been injured – many of them children. Families are sleeping outside with little idea if or when they might be able to return home. No child is responsible for what is happening. And no child should have to go through it – yet this has been their reality for over a year. So many of you have already donated to children in Gaza, but as the conflict escalates and more families are forced from their homes, Gaza and Lebanon are in the depths of a humanitarian catastrophe – so we need your support now more than ever. The suffering being inflicted on children in Gaza and Lebanon is unfathomable. A year since conflict erupted, 14,100 children have been killed in Gaza, many more have died from hunger and disease, and nearly 20,000 are missing. Behind these appalling statistics are the stories of individual children – buried under the rubble, cut off from their families, alone and afraid. Children in Gaza, Lebanon and the region need your support now more than ever. ⚠️ One civilian is killed every 30 minutes by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. In the last 12 months thousands of bombs have been dropped by Israeli forces, killing and injuring tens of thousands of civilians in Gaza. Whole families are being wiped out – some children are being left with no surviving family members. The UK government continues to play its part in this war on children. Despite a partial suspension of arms sales to the Government of Israel, parts for the F-35 jet have been made exempt from this suspension. These jets are being used by Israeli forces to bomb and kill children in Gaza. The UK must suspend ALL arms to the Government of Israel. Failure to do so means the UK is currently complicit in the killing of children in Gaza. Meet Shehab, a talented artist and aspiring fashion designer who was born with a disability and arrived at Zaatari Refugee Camp at just 4 years old, after fleeing the Syrian conflict. Despite loving school, severe bullying forced her to drop out, leaving her confidence shattered. Everything changed when Shehab found the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Centre, opened by Save the Children in 2022. With support from the centre, she made friends, rebuilt her confidence, and re-enrolled in school. Now, Shehab is passionate about helping other girls stay in education and dreams of becoming a human rights lawyer. Find out more about how our Save the Children is empowering girls like Shehab through education and support programs. https://bit.ly/3NkCnAh #InternationalDayOfTheGirl #IDOG #GirlsEducation #EmpowerGirls #Zaatari

What do people really think about the climate crisis? Our London volunteer Changemakers held a stall to collect the opinions of people from around the city on the climate crisis 🔥 The public wrote their concerns on leaves which we’ve made into a digital scrapbook, which the Changemakers have now sent to their MPs. We’re calling for urgent action on the climate crisis to create a safe, healthy and happy future for children. Want to get involved in events like this and help organise climate activities in your local area? You can volunteer here 👉 https://bit.ly/4f3mMBL

Yesterday representatives from Save the Children and GSK, alongside partner organisations and academic institutions, came together to reflect on and celebrate a decade of collaborating to improve children’s health globally. Our ‘10 years of Global Health Excellence Symposium’, sponsored by GSK, explored the impact and learnings from our flagship programmes, unpacking the success factors and inhibitors to lasting change for several major health challenges of our time including pneumonia, immunization, community health systems and maternal and newborn health. Thank you to everyone who attended and all of the speakers for sharing such powerful insights ❤️

✨ Girls living in fragile countries are twice as likely to face child marriage ✨   When countries are impacted by wars or climate disasters, systems that protect girls—like law enforcement and healthcare—become weaker. This leaves them more vulnerable to poverty, violence, and child marriage. Globally, a girl is married every 3 minutes. But in fragile countries, it happens every 30 seconds.   At Save the Children, we’re working with girls at risk of child marriage to challenge harmful customs and create lasting change. In 2022, we opened the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Centre at Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan. This space, led by and for young women, empowers girls through classes in art, self-defence, advocacy, and more.   Together, we can help girls everywhere fight for their rights. 💪💜 #EndChildMarriage #GirlsRights #InternationalDayOfTheGirl #SaveTheChildren

Words can't describe the horrors children have been subjected to over the past year. More than 14,100 of Gaza's children have been killed by Israeli forces, but the actual number is undoubtedly even higher. More than 20,000 children are estimated to be missing – trapped under rubble, buried in unmarked graves, detained, or separated from their families in the chaos of the war. Nearly all 1.1 million children in Gaza are facing critical food insecurity. 37 Israeli children were killed during the 7 October attacks by Palestinian armed groups, and 36 Israeli children were taken hostage. What will it take for our leaders to take decisive action? We're continuing to urgently call for an immediate, definitive ceasefire to prevent further suffering, ensure safe humanitarian access, and the release of all hostages. #CeasefireNow #StopTheWarOnChildren #Gaza #SaveTheChildren
