Want to see a 9-tonne sewer screw being hoisted out of the ground? Here’s our film capturing the milestone moment. It’s part of our multimillion-pound refurbishment project at McDonald Road Waste Water Pumping Station in central Edinburgh. An impressive piece of engineering! The foul screw is as long as a Lothian bus, and helps move millions of litres of waste water across the capital. Ensuring the continued efficiency and reliability of our sewer network, this upgrade is crucial for managing Edinburgh's waste water and protecting our environment for years to come. Big shout-out to our amazing teams at Morrison Water Services, PMP UTILITIES LIMITED and ID Systems UK UK for their careful planning and coordination in this tight spot! 🙌 More information: https://bit.ly/3Yzl5po #environment #wastewater #engineering The City of Edinburgh Council Gillian Martin

Scottish Water Horizons has sold three of its innovative heat from waste water assets in Glasgow, Stirling and Campbeltown to Noventa Energy Partners as part of a strategic transaction to release capital for further investment in renewable technologies. The three heat from waste water schemes were the first of their kind in the UK. Paul Kerr, Managing Director of Scottish Water Horizons, said: “This sale enables us to accelerate the development of renewable energy technologies, such as heat from waste water projects, further supporting Scotland’s energy transition. “We remain deeply committed to Scotland’s low carbon heat market, and our partnership with Noventa ensures these assets will continue to grow, contributing to Scotland's net-zero goals by providing reliable, low-carbon heating solutions. "This aligns with our strategy of incubating and divesting at the right time, maximising impact, and reinvesting in projects that protect our environment for future generations.” READ: https://lnkd.in/evJXe8AD

The Munro Challenge 2024 for WaterAid is now mission complete! And the first participant to sign up, our very own Andrew Steel, led the last team to claim a Munro summit during a wet and windy climb of Derry Cairngorm. Overall more than £46,000 was raised by 207 employees, supply chain partners, friends and family getting on their hiking gear and putting one foot in front of the other. Thanks to our main sponsors GEORGE LESLIE and RSE and to Mott MacDonald who sponsored Ben Lomond. Over the past two events, our hiking teams have raised more than £80,000 for vital projects delivering clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene in Rwanda and Malawi. Already thinking of the next mountain challenge... (once the boots have dried out)
