💬Yesterday, we had the pleasure of co-hosting a panel discussion with the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany e.V. (BCCG) on the future of the EU and UK's relationship.   👥The event featured insightful conversations on the recent elections in Europe and the future of EU-UK relations with the newly elected Labour Party in the UK. We were honoured to have H.E. 🚨 Election Insights 2024🚨 The General Elections 2024 results are in, with a resounding victory for the Labour Party. Winning a majority of 421 seats, with the Conservatives winning only 121 seats, it is a landslide victory for Labour and a tough loss for the Conservatives. Whilst celebrating this win, the new Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer addressed the UK during his victory speech saying "We did it....change begins now!". This significant shift in the political landscape in the UK, which saw the Conservatives in power since 2010, reflects the evolving priorities and sentiments of the electorate since the 2019 election. 🗝️ Key Highlights of the 2024 elections: 👉The Liberal Democrats made extraordinary seats, often unseating long-standing Tory seats and have now become the third largest party. 👉The Conservatives have nearly seen a 20% decline in their vote shares, compared to the General Elections in 2019. 👉Reform UK holds the third largest vote share at 14%. 👉Strong increase in Independent candidates securing seats. #Election2024 #GeneralElection #UKelections #Electioninsights Photo credits: BBC News
