  • #Event| Local Government Association: Planning for the Net Zero Energy Transition⚡ 📅 03 April 🕓 10:00 - 11:30 📍 Online Join Local Government Association for their 'Planning for the Net Zero Energy Transition' virtual event!🔋 Over the last decade, the focus from central government has been to establish the policy required to facilitate the move from a predominantly fossil based energy system, to a low carbon energy system. This means that space heating, both domestic and commercial, will be 70-80 per cent from electric sources (heat pumps) and 20-30 per cent heat networks🔥🏘️ 👩⚖️ As this agenda evolves under the new government, local authorities need to be at the centre of the UK’s energy transition by baselining energy overviews, developing plans for local area energy and heat networks and working with the National Energy System Operator (NESO) and the emerging Regional Energy Strategic Plans (RESPs). Speakers will focus on how councils are coordinating work within their local energy systems to ensure they have a local and regional vision for their energy needs to achieve net zero targets♻️ Find out more and register your interest today! 🎟️ https://lnkd.in/eMyMp_jA #NetZero #EnergyTransition #HeatNetworks #LocalGovernment

  • #News| World’s tallest energy-positive tower planned for Birmingham🌍🌁 A groundbreaking new development is hoping to redefine sustainable architecture as the world’s tallest energy-positive building🔋 💜 Proposed by Birmingham-based GNM Developments Limited, The Narrowhouse will be a UK-first, generating more clean energy than it consumes and setting a new benchmark for zero-carbon city living. The scheme was first submitted in June 2024, as ‘Gather & Soul’ but has been renamed to reflect the heritage of the building’s location. At 29 storeys, the tower will be covered in 4,070m² of advanced solar panels, transforming sunlight into electricity to power the building and feed excess energy into a local clean-energy microgrid. In doing so, The Narrowhouse will reduce carbon emissions by 87.9 tonnes per year, an over 100% reduction in CO2 which would be produced by a typical building of this size, setting a new sustainability standard for city living 🌿👫 Read more here! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e_jn9RSs #SustainableDevelopment #EnergyEfficient #SustainableCities
