Councils in London at financial ‘breaking point’ amid rising homelessness. Interesting to see cost cutting measures mentioned in this BBC News article - including taking road repairs and children’s homes back in-house, reducing street cleaning, and cancelling Christmas lights. But no mention of prevention? 🤔 Prevention work would have a direct impact on families, like Haile (mentioned in the article) who need it most, and reduce the need for costly temporary accommodation and other services. We’ve recently completed a report on Reverse Engineering Homelessness – interviewing 10 residents in temporary accommodation to identify where earlier prevention could have made an impact.
