CEO of International Tennis Integrity Agency

Really looking forward to working with the rest of the ITIA Team (and many others within and beyond tennis) to deliver our new Strategy.

📰 Today we have published our three-year strategy to outline how we are managing the tennis anti-doping and anti-corruption programmes. The strategy puts prevention at the heart of our work and underlines our commitment to transparency. There are five key priorities: 📃 Education: We will work to reach players, support staff and officials through all effective channels. We will focus on key stages of their development to inform, educate and promote good decision making. 👂 Support and engagement: We will listen and learn, answer questions, give advice and provide information to help individuals make informed decisions and understand the rules. ⚡ Risk and evolving landscape: We will assess risk and trends and respond accordingly. We will work in partnership with other sports and integrity bodies. ✍ Process: We will ensure our rules and processes remain fit for purpose, are communicated clearly and understood. 📁 Case management: We will manage investigations and cases in line with our rules and according to their specific circumstances whilst acting fairly, efficiently and sensitively. We will act with appropriate transparency. You can read the full strategy below or visit our website for more details - https://lnkd.in/gUYcCx7p

  • 🇨🇿 More pictures of the ITIA's visit to the International Tennis Federation World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostějov, Czechia. Pictured are Richard and James from our education team, delivering an interactive session on integrity values for participants from all 32 teams from across the world, as well as their team captains. Richard said: "Working with the ITF to deliver a strong educational pathway for juniors is vital in ensuring that players can prepare for a future career in the sport. "Most of our education with this age group focuses on the importance of good decision-making, touching on anti-doping and anti-corruption themes. "It is important that players know they can talk to us if they have any concerns or questions, and that we are here to help prevent issues in the future. "We've had a fantastic week of engagement in Czechia and look forward to seeing these players again at events throughout the year." Our thanks to the ITF and the Czechia Tennis Federation for their hospitality. 📸 Srdjan Stevanovic/ITF

  • 🇨🇿 Hello from Prostějov, Czechia, and the World Junior Tennis Finals. Richard, James and Daniel from the ITIA are on-site all week at one of the International Tennis Federation's flagship junior events. The event, which has proudly been held in Prostějov for 25 years, has hosted some of the world's top professional players in years gone by, including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff, among many more. As part of our visit to Czechia, alongside hosting an information stand in the courtyard on-site, the ITIA will deliver an education session to all participants and coaches, introducing integrity themes and values to players at the beginning of their journey.

  • 🇩🇪 This week, the ITIA joined colleagues from the International Tennis Federation's Youth Officiating Initiative at the Tennis Europe under-14 tournament in Düren, Germany. The ITF Youth Officiating Initiative provides additional support and mentorship to a handful of select young chair umpires at the start of their officiating careers. The meeting offered the ITIA the opportunity to build relationships with the next generation of ITF officials, introduce key themes from our integrity programmes, and hold one-to-one meetings with 12 officials from 10 different European countries.

  • 🔐 The ITIA is encouraging all players, coaches, and support members to stay secure on social media. 📲 The ITIA has received multiple reports of ongoing corrupt approaches via DM on social media. We are sharing examples of these approaches so players and their support teams know what to look out for, and encouraging all players to follow and follow three simple steps to protect themselves online. 1️⃣ Take a screenshot of suspicious messages 2️⃣ Block the sender 3️⃣ Share information with the ITIA so that we can investigate If you, or someone you know, has received information that may be helpful in preventing corruption in our member events, let us know via direct message on social media, on the ITIA App, or through the contact form at itia.tennis. 💻

  • 👋🇵🇱 Meet Tomasz Berkieta, no.7 in the International Tennis Federation junior world rankings. The 17-year-old from Warsaw, Poland is enjoying a breakout summer, including a run to the Roland-Garros boys' singles final. Tomasz, a member of the ATP Tour Accelerator Programme, and his coach Piotr joined members of the ITIA education team for an introduction to the sport's integrity programmes in Roehampton, ahead of competing in junior Wimbledon next week. Learning about the basics of anti-doping testing, supplements, and nutrition provides a strong foundation for future professionals before their life on tour, and we are proud to work with our members ATP, ITF and WTA to support players in making good choices, on and off the court. Reflecting on the session, Tomasz said: “Tennis helps prepare me for life, and anti-doping testing is just a part of it." Read more about the Accelerator Programme ⬇: https://lnkd.in/e_n5DUw6
