We've had great news this week, National Museums Liverpool's transformational proposals for the International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum were granted at Committee. The 58M Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios designed scheme will create dynamic and welcoming spaces with better connections between the museums and a prominent new entrance, tackling the challenging subject of the international slave trade and its legacy head on. The Planning Lab has provided planning advice, stakeholder support and submitted the planning and listed building consents to Liverpool City Council. We enjoyed a sunny afternoon at Cockpit’s summer garden party in Deptford last week, celebrating the delivery of the transformational project for new affordable makerspaces, education uses, alongside a community garden and cafe - and with the unveiling of Amber Kohkhar's public art wall for the studios. The installation Head, Heart and Hand comes from the ancient practice of geometry, engaging intellect to guide, the heart to understand and the hands to create.
