About us

The Junction has an excellent reputation for meeting the needs of children, young people and families in Tees Valley. We do this through our five streams of work – Youth Employment, Young Carers, CREATE Youth provision, Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing, and Specialist Children and Young People’s Transport. We have built this reputation through our approach to working with local people that focuses on outcomes that make a real difference to their lives and providing ‘exceptional support for exceptional people’. We plan to build on our outstanding reputation to grow our services and the support available to local people. Our vision is a world where no child, young person or family is left to struggle. We want a world where there is always someone to talk to. Our mission is to empower children, young people and their families to embrace life with confidence, facing life’s challenges in a positive way. Our values: We listen. We’ll never tell anyone what we think they need. We let them shape their own support which empowers them towards a healthier, happier life. We genuinely care. Our team is deeply passionate about changing people’s lives. Their expertise is second to none, showing empathy towards each individual’s situation. We don’t judge. We never judge anybody. People are free to express themselves as they wish. We empower. We go on adventures, push children and young people out their comfort zone and tackle issues head on. We show them their potential and believe they can accomplish anything they want to.

📢 Poverty in Tees Valley: The Urgent Need for Action The latest UK Poverty 2025 report from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) lays bare the growing crisis facing communities across the country- and the reality here in Tees Valley is deeply concerning. 📊 43% of children in Middlesbrough and Thornaby East are growing up in poverty. 📊 Families across our region are struggling to afford even the basics- food, clothing, and household essentials. 📊 The cost-of-living crisis is pushing more people into hardship, and support services are stretched. At The Junction, we see the human impact behind these statistics every day. We meet parents forced to choose between heating and eating. We see young people going without essentials that many of us take for granted. And we know that, without urgent action, poverty will continue to shape the futures of far too many. But poverty isn’t inevitable, it’s a challenge we can address together. 🚛 Through The Junction Multibank, we’re redistributing essential goods to families who need them most. 🤝 We work alongside local authorities, referral partners, businesses, and charities to provide practical, immediate support. 📢 We advocate for long-term solutions that go beyond crisis response, because no one should be left to struggle alone. What can you do? ✅ Businesses - partner with us to donate surplus goods or provide financial support. ✅ Decision-makers - use this data to inform policies that address root causes, not just symptoms. ✅ Communities - raise awareness and challenge the idea that poverty is ‘just the way things are.’ 👉 Read the full report here: https://zurl.co/5Yt8H 👉 Learn more about The Junction Multibank: https://zurl.co/gqdKA --- A huge thank you to our supporters for their help with the multibank: The Multibank, Amazon, Comic Relief, Point North, The Teesside Charity, Middlesbrough Council, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Hartlepool Borough Council

  • Today, our Trustees came together with Beth Major and Jamie Noble, for a pivotal strategy day hosted at Darlington Building Society. The day was filled with reflection, planning, and thought-provoking discussions about how we can continue to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the children, young people, and families we serve. Together, we explored how The Junction can strengthen its impact across Tees Valley and remain a vital lifeline for those facing challenges. A huge thank you to our Trustees for their dedication, insight, and commitment to our mission. We are also incredibly grateful to Darlington Building Society for their warm hospitality and support in hosting this important day. Strategic planning days like these are vital for shaping the future of The Junction. We’re excited about the journey ahead and what we can achieve together for our community.
