A multi-skilled consultancy that helps make better places.
About us
At Iceni Projects we believe that everything we do is ultimately about people – and as a consultancy operating within the built environment, for people read place. A place to live, to work, to play. To grow up; to grow old. A sense of place. Everything in its place. A time and a place. We are fortunate at Iceni to be able to call upon colleagues with a myriad of qualifications, specialisms and backgrounds, from archaeology to transport, operating across the country from four world class cities. However, what links us all is the belief that we can create better places by working collectively and collaboratively. So whether you choose to work with one individual or many, a planner or sustainability consultant, we put a commitment to place at the heart of what we do. We firmly believe in the principles of sustainable development. We practice what we preach. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and enhancing our contribution to society through a series of relevant targets that are regularly reviewed, monitored and updated.

Did you hear that the Planning and Infrastructure Bill landed yesterday?! With a total of 167 pages, it is a lot of bedtime reading. But don't worry, our team have worked through the detail so that you don't have to. Here's our latest Iceni Briefing Note💡 Gemma Gallant and Lucy Morris

This week, Poppy Malcomson and Grace K. from our Built Heritage and Townscape team consider what happens when a listed building burns down and whether we need to be creative when it comes to preservation and restoration. https://hubs.ly/Q03bp9L50

The way we work, live, and invest in buildings is changing. With nearly 80% of the buildings that will exist in 2050 already built, the focus is shifting towards retrofitting and repurposing rather than demolishing and starting anew. At Iceni, we’re at the forefront of this transformation. From unlocking complex planning challenges to enhancing sustainability credentials, we are helping landowners, developers and investors future-proof their assets. From 214 Oxford Street to 150 St Vincent Street in Glasgow, Iceni is helping to redefine commercial real estate through deep retrofit, creative repurposing and smart sustainability solutions. Read our Retrofit & Repurposing showcase to see how we’re making an impact. #Retrofit #Repurposing #Sustainability #NetZero #UrbanRegeneration #RealEstate #Planning #Iceni

It was a wet finish to Day 4 of the Club Peloton MIPIM ride (250km cycling, with an elevation of 3,374m). Fortunately, Ian Anderson and James Stone still have their Cub Scout skills when it comes to drying their kit for today's cycling. Just the small matter of 249km and 4,000m of climbing to come today. This year, MIPIM 2025 aims to raise £200,000 to support three incredible charities, each transforming young lives: Coram Adoption – helping children find their forever homes. Cyclists Fighting Cancer – getting young people pedalling on their road to recovery. Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust – empowering disadvantaged young people in Central London. Yesterday we were delighted to host a roundtable with Ealing Council (London Borough of Ealing) to discuss growth in the borough’s already vibrant creative sector. Leader of Ealing, Cllr Peter Mason affirmed his commitment to the sector and its huge potential to drive economic growth, and discussions focused on promoting Ealing as a creative hub, managing land values and developing a joined-up approach to training to provide the skills the sector needs. A huge thank you to Cllr Mason and Cllr Shital Manro for joining us, to Gemma Gallant for chairing, and to all the attendees for contributing to such a fascinating discussion.

It’s been a busy start to the year for Iceni Engagement who have been supporting Places for People on Camden Film Quarter where new homes are being planned alongside film and tv studios. Our inclusive approach to engagement kick-started with interactive pop-ups and digital surveys which took in views from over 1,000 people from right across the local community. We have also run creative workshops with 180 students from four local schools. Through collaging and drawing, young people have been showing us what they value the most locally and were keen to share ideas about the future of their area. Led by local artist, Tascha Von Uexkull we’ve gained significant value through the students’ feedback. Thank you to everyone who took part in a workshop or attended a pop-up and shared their feedback. We look forward to continuing to work together as the plans progress! Our CEO, Ian Anderson, is taking on the epic 1,405km challenge of cycling from London to Cannes as part of Club Peloton’s legendary MIPIM ride. Today, the journey begins: 136km from London to Portsmouth, with 1,268m of climbing – and that’s just stage one! We wish Ian all the very best for the road ahead – safe travels and strong legs!
