Consultation sought on Human Form Recognition Systems (HFRS) from the public and CPA - Construction Plant-hire Association members. Link to give feedback in post below. Please help if you can. #construction #planthire #constructionequipment #safety
📢 Human Form Recognition Systems (HFRS) Publication - Feedback Sought from CPA - Construction Plant-hire Association Members The Construction Industry Plant Safety Group (CIPSG) has devised a Good Practice Guide around the use of Human Form Recognition Systems (HFRS). Issues around the fitment, use and data collection of HFRS were first raised by both CPA Members and contractors, from which it was agreed that industry-wide guidance should be devised in order to provide consistency and clarity on the application and management of these systems. To ensure cross-sector support, it was agreed to undertake this project through the CIPSG – chaired by CPA in co-operation of the Health and Safety Executive – to allow greater ownership of the issue across the sector. A working group consisting of plant hirers, contractors and HFRS suppliers was formed and looked into the topics such as fitment specifications, what the systems do and how information is reported and interrogated. All agreed that the main function of these systems is to enhance safety but was noted that with different systems entering the market, that specifiers and operators of plant would need further information on the function and uses of the various systems on the market. The working group provided the content to a number of topics including regulative/standards, types and fitment, responsibilities and liabilities, management on site, education and behaviours and the data monitoring. The working group are now at a point to undertake a public consultation exercise to allow the provision of any feedback on the content of the draft document before final launch, and welcomes comments from industry accordingly. See the link below for further info and to provide feedback 👇 https://lnkd.in/eitdb-UG The closing date for comments is 4th April 2025 #HumanFormRecognition #WeWantYourFeedback

The Construction Industry Training Board CITB has this week launched its Consensus process, (Monday 17 March – Friday 9 May 2025) all to assess industry support for its Levy Proposals that will help provide training for the construction industry across the next three years. Have your say here: https://lnkd.in/eXgn6nMR Several new initiatives have been announced which include: >Addressing the issue of Levy-registered employers passing on the Levy to subcontractors, a new anonymous online reporting system has been introduced. Usually undertaken every three years, Consensus is the process through which CITB seeks Levy-paying employers’ views and agreement on its plans for generating the Levy and the skills and training this will deliver to the industry. CITB’s core focus for the 2026-29 Levy Proposals is to ensure that the Levy exemption and reduction thresholds remain current and appropriate. The Consensus process proposals for the 2026 – 29 Levy are: • PAYE: 0.35% • Net paid (Taxable) CIS Sub-contractors: 1.25% • Increasing the Levy Exemption threshold so companies that have an employee payroll and net paid (taxable) CIS contractors of less than £150,000 are exempt from paying the Levy • Reducing the Levy Reduction threshold so companies that have an employee payroll and net paid (taxable) CIS contractors of between £150,000 - £499,999 will get a 50% reduction on the Levy No other exemptions will apply. Caterpillar Inc. Variable Angle Boom (VAB) option; now available on the Cat® 340 Hydraulic Excavator. Unhindered operation in tight excavating and demolition jobsites is Caterpillar’s thinking behind the VAB inclusion. By providing one extra boom articulation, Caterpillar says the VAB maximises the machine’s application range while minimising the space required to rotate in tight earthmoving and demolition sites. Cat Product Application Specialist Ana Pinzón had this to say... "By specifying the VAB, operators lose none of the standard functionality of the 340 – not least its 8.2 m maximum digging depth – but gain added flexibility to deploy the machine across a much wider range of jobsites, with improved ability to work closer to the tracks. The VAB option adds even wider appeal to an already well-equipped heavy-duty machine". If there’s one video to watch to inspire #womeninconstruction watch this one. What a simple yet powerful piece this is, what a story and what a communicator Molly Gill Enjoy… Good job Flannery Plant Hire Cal O’Connor CITB Christopher Bushell Ian Guymer National Construction College Kirsty Evans #skillsgap #training #recruitment
Wow, what an inspiration!🌟 As we celebrate Women in Construction Week, we're also looking ahead to International Women’s Day tomorrow—the perfect time to showcase incredible stories like Molly Gill's. After finishing college, Molly moved from job to job, never quite feeling she belonged. But when an opportunity arose to attend a Skills Bootcamp in Plant Operations, she seized the chance to try something new. Now, she's operating a tracked dumper on LRT, helping to deliver the 36km pipeline for Anglian Water @one Alliance. Molly is a fantastic ambassador for our industry, and her story has the power to inspire more women to pursue long-term careers in construction. Keep up the great work, Molly!👏 A huge thank you to Anglian Water @one Alliance, JN Bentley, Barhale Ltd, and Balfour Beatty plc for collaborating on this video and for being part of Molly's journey. Just 1% of plant operators on-site are women! We need to find innovative and meaningful ways to keep CONSTRUCTING CHANGE in our industry. What more can we do as a sector to encourage others to follow in Molly's footsteps? #WomenInConstruction #NCW2025 #WomenInConstructionWeek #InternationalWomensDay #ConstructingChange
