Mother’s Day gifting with heart ❤️ Our beautiful Waitrose Foundation bouquets give back to the people who grow, pick and pack them, all year round. One particular bouquet this Mother’s Day goes the extra mile, and features a hand-beaded decoration, meticulously crafted by women’s community groups from formerly opposing communities in Northern Kenya 💐 The UPEED (United for Poverty Eradication & Economic Development) and SATUBO Segera women’s groups were established to empower women, provide skills and training, and to improve livelihoods for young and vulnerable community members. Jean, pictured below, is a member of the SATUBO group, who united to create peace across their regions and establish a thriving enterprise that gives back to their communities 💚 Our stunning Mother’s Day bouquets are in store from Wednesday 26th March, and you can read more about the Foundation, here: bit.ly/WTRFoundation 📷 Portrait credit: Eleanor Church Lark Rise Pictures #WaitroseFoundation #DrivenByPurpose

It's #FoodWasteActionWeek! At Waitrose, we're committed to reducing food waste and supporting our partners at WRAP to explore how we can avoid waste at all stages of the food chain. We've made some great progress over the last year, such as: 🛒 We launched a messaging trial in-store with WRAP to see which slogans and signs best persuade shoppers to buy loose produce. 🍝 We made a significant contribution to help combat food poverty in the UK by providing surplus pasta from our supply chain to FareShare UK, as part of the Coronation Food Project. 🤝 2024 was our best year ever for surplus redistribution in terms of volume, driven by increased donations from stores and building upon a long-standing partnership with FareShare. Food Waste Action Week is a crucial opportunity to raise awareness and encourage action. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/edGJvx8m #FoodWasteActionWeek #DrivenByPurpose

Well done to Partners at Waitrose Bagshot for winning this week’s The Grocer 33 ‘Store of the Week’ award. 🙌 The mystery shopper gave high points for well stocked shelves, “very helpful” Partners and “enticing” meat, fish and deli counters. Branch Manager Gary praised his 150-strong team for being “absolutely outstanding”, and highlighted the success of our new product ranges: “Some of our No.1 products are off the scale in terms of flavour… For someone who likes food, this store is the largest larder in the world.” This week’s win coincides with the Partnership publishing its full year results. And having worked at the Partnership for 40 years, Gary reflected that he’s “never known the business to transform at a greater pace”. Big congratulations to Gary and all Partners involved 👏💚 #Waitrose #AwardWin

We’re on a winning streak - following on from our recent The Grocer 33 online win - as the efforts of our fantastic Partners at Waitrose Holloway Road have helped us to secure the Grocer’s highly-acclaimed ‘Store of the Week’ Award. 👏 With quality counters, an attractive store layout and attentive Partners helping to set us apart from the rest, the results speak for themselves. As Jared Hughes, Branch Manager, comments, “we’ve been on a real journey…to make sure we are really delivering for our customers.” We never take any of our wins for granted, and we’re so grateful that we’re being recognised for delivering the best possible experience for our customers. Partners on the Waitrose Farm in Hampshire are submitting their data to the annual GWCT Big Farmland Bird Count, supported by NFU (National Farmers' Union) 🐦 Check out the vlog from Kath, Biodiversity Officer on the Leckford Estate, where we strive to farm for nature in every way we can. For birds, this includes: 🌲 Enhancing and restoring our hedgerows and field margins to create safe spaces to nest and breed 🌻 Providing natural wildflower habitats with plenty of insect-rich summer foraging 🌾 Supplementary food during the winter hungry gap You can read more about how we're Farming For Nature at Leckford, here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/emHC6Jiv #FarmingForNature #BFBC #BigFarmlandBirdCount
The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust is currently hosting their annual Big Farmland Bird Count until 23 February, and we've been getting involved here at Leckford for many years by carrying out our own count and submitting our results, alongside other local farms. Farming for nature is important for farmland birds because, in the UK, they have declined by 63% since the 1970’s. By integrating habitat restoration and enhancement alongside regenerative land management we hope to boost biodiversity and productivity. The count and our other monitoring surveys are an important part of the process to allow us to measure the impacts of our conservation efforts. Here’s a short video explaining what else we do for farmland birds at The Waitrose & Partners Farm. #FarmingForNature #BFBC #BigFarmlandBirdCount
