Gravis are delighted to announce that our consortium, in collaboration with ORIX and UK Power Network Services, has successfully passed the Enhanced Pre-Qualification (EPQ) round for the eleventh round (TR11) of OFTO (Offshore Electricity Transmission Owner). We are one of four parties short-listed for the Invitation to Tender (ITT) related to the Dogger Bank B transmission link, part of the largest offshore wind farm in the world. This milestone highlights our expertise in managing critical infrastructure assets and advancing renewable energy initiatives. The UK's ambitious offshore wind targets require significant upgrades to our electricity transmission networks. However, the current Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) regime is facing substantial challenges that hinder progress. RWE is advocating for urgent reforms to the OFTO system to ensure the effective and cost-efficient delivery of our offshore wind projects. We propose two key changes: allowing generators to retain ownership of new assets and reclaim legacy ones after the OFTO revenue term; and revising the regime to ensure third-party owner-operators are financially robust and generators are compensated for delays. By addressing these critical issues, we can ensure the offshore transmission network supports sustainable growth and cements the UK’s leadership in renewable energy. Today, we proudly announce the first power of our Moray West project! 🎉 After an intense and effective construction phase, today the 882MW project has successfully delivered the first power to the National Electricity Transmission System (NETS). Moray West is now in the final phase of construction, with the last turbine components being pre-assembled in Nigg harbour prior to offshore installation. With amazing hard work and professionalism, the project teams have enabled this significant milestone to be reached. With their continued dedication we will drive towards successful completion of the installation programme and commissioning over the coming months to complete the work on the project. Thanks to Benj Sykes and the Ørsted team for the visit to the Burbo Bank and Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farms last week. The original Burbo Bank wind farm, 100% owned by Orsted, was commissioned in 2007 and is 90 MW in size using Siemens Gamesa 3.6MW turbines. The 258 MW Burbo Bank Extension was commissioned in 2017 and uses Vestas 8MW turbines. It is co-owned by LEGO and funds managed by Schroders Greencoat LLP, both with a 25% stake. We also saw the Burbo Bank Extension OFTO substation, part owned by HICL Infrastructure PLC. We were also fortunate to view HM Coastguard and the RNLI practising a winching exercise just outside the Extension - a reminder of the invaluable service they provide. Finally credit to Robin Hawkes and his GB Renewables Map, which allowed me to easily check the generation profile for both of the wind farms on the day.

John Laing has completed the acquisition of 37.5% interest in the offshore transmission assets associated with one of the world’s largest installed windfarms, Hornsea 2.   Why are investments like this so important? A busy past week for Inch Cape. First, the largest concrete pours on the project (150 cubic metres each) by Careys for the bases of both the Siemens Energy Super Grid Transformers at the Cockenzie substation site along with further concrete works. Next, the tandem lift by two overhead gantry cranes of the 500 tonne offshore platform top deck to stack it over the lower deck pancake-style at the Smulders yard in Wallsend, Newcastle. BREAKING: DIF Capital Partners and BlackRock are among the investors that have been shortlisted in the sale of 10 offshore wind transmission links around the U.K. coastline. Diamond Transmission Corporation Limited is divesting its shares in 5.7 GW of OFTO assets, including Hornsea Two and Walney Extension, in a deal first reported by PeakLoad in December.
