    Kantar Entertainment on Demand’s first look at the US #Olympics data is out, well, for the July 26th opening ceremony at least! 🥇   … and WOW! 30% of #Peacock new subscriptions in July were driven by live sports, 3x bigger than the market average of free and paid #videostreaming services. ❗ Typically, we see live sports driving <15% of Peacock’s sign up monthly, so it’s very evident the impact sporting events have on customer acquisition.   #Sports is a growing trend in video streaming. 📈 With 2/3 of the Olympics airing in August, and the English Premier League kicking off in the same month, I’m excited to see what the trends look like in next month’s report! 📅 Contact me to learn more on how we do this at Kantar! #MarketResearch #Insights #Entertainment #Kantar

    🎶 Where will the next wave of music streaming growth come from? Future growth in music streaming will depend on targeting specific age groups and regions, as several markets have demonstrated this potential. For example, 51% of Gen Z in Great Britain have a premium subscription, while in the US, only about a third of the 55+ age group is currently subscribed, indicating room for growth across all age groups. However, it’s crucial for services to identify what will persuade each segment of non-users to subscribe. Research by Worldpanel by Kantar shows that Spotify is the leading choice among new 55+ users, driven largely by recommendations from friends and family. While older listeners may be harder to reach and often favor traditional formats like radio, they can become loyal subscribers once convinced, often through recommendations and free trials.
