Architectural Visualisation

About us

WyrdTree is a creative visualisation studio established in London in 2018 by a team of architects, 3D designers and animators. Working alongside some of the most established UK-based architectural studios (several AJ100 practices) and others across Europe, our team produces highly atmospheric CGI exteriors, interiors, architectural visualisations and photomontages. Since its founding, WyrdTree has continued to provide strong imagery, helping their clients win architectural competitions, secure planning permission for their designs and market their projects, varying in scale from individual houses to urban developments or garden cities. Our CGI visuals have so far allowed over 40 architecture, landscape, urban design studios visualise their zero-carbon residential developments, heritage-led restoration projects, award-winning landscape entries in RIBA competitions and iconic mixed-use developments in cities such as London, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Prague, Oslo, Bergen. In working with clients, our aim is to establish bespoke long-term collaborations, bridging the gap between standard remote visualisation and in-house work. We are aware that designs are prone to changes or delays, which is why we offer flexibility in terms of bookings, deadlines and reviewing methods.

We are delighted to announce that the Royal Borough of Greenwich has voted on a resolution to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of 141 Woolwich to create purpose-built student accommodation.   Designed by Apt, the scheme will provide 190 beds, of which 35% will meet the GLA definition of affordable student accommodation, all with access to shared amenity including kitchen, dining, study, and recreational spaces, contained within a high-performing building fabric, and serviced by renewable energy sources. The proposals will transform the current vacant site, with three buildings connected by a podium containing commercial space and student facilities. The scheme addresses its position on the curvature of Woolwich Road and on Dandridge Close though stepped, setback frontages and the creation of high-quality public realm. Rain gardens and trees contribute to a sustainable urban drainage strategy and a new dedicated footway on Dandridge Close offers safe pedestrian movement and reinstatement of a traditional street frontage. The planting strategy will see a Biodiversity Net Gain of over 1000%, whilst visible and accessible cycle stores at ground floor will promote sustainable travel.   Architecturally, rich tones of red brick reference the historic buildings found in the local area, whilst cast masonry lintels, brick detailing and dark profiled metalwork create layering and depth. The design of the internal layouts takes advantage of natural light, ventilation, and aspect, whilst reducing carbon emissions by 35% above Building Regulations Part L and targeting a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’. James Ewen, Executive Director at Apt, said:   “We are delighted that The Royal Borough of Greenwich Planning Board has granted approval for our scheme. We have worked extremely hard over the past two years to create an exceptional building that responds to this challenging site and the University of Greenwich’s design guide, which exemplifies the wider demands of modern student living”   Adil Adil, CEO of AVF Developments, said:   “We are extremely happy with the Board’s decision, and it reinforces our belief that this will be a fantastic addition to the local area. Our thanks go to the consultants, but in particular to Apt and Newmark for leading the team and working to achieve such a positive outcome.   This is an excellently located site for students, only a short cycle to the University of Greenwich’s Maritime Campus and well connected to other institutions via public transport. We look forward to continuing with the next phases of design in anticipation of a start on site next year.” AVF Developments Apt Newmark UK Point 2 KMHeritage XCO2 Greengage Environmental Ltd RGP Orion Meinhardt Group MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) https://lnkd.in/e2chBjrB

Bringing History to Life: The Transformation of Hampstead Police Station By: WyrdTree WyrdTree’s Approach: Visualising Atmosphere, Enhancing Legacy At WyrdTree, we thrive on producing visualisations for sites rich in history and character. Every project we take on is an opportunity to tell a story—one that goes beyond simple representation and into the realm of atmosphere and visual immersion. Context is always a priority. Before we even begin optimising the 3d scene, we take the time to absorb the essence of a place, carefully photographing, modelling and texturing its surroundings in intricate detail. For the transformation of Hampstead Police Station, this philosophy was particularly important. This was not just another development—it was the revival of a well-loved landmark, requiring a careful balance of heritage sensitivity and modern function. The visuals needed to reflect this duality, capturing both the meticulous restoration of historic elements and the seamless integration of contemporary interventions.... 🔗Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eZvSh5aX 📢 Mihail Bila | WyrdTree | Architecture Vogue Magazine

Thrilled to welcome Dominique to the WyrdTree team! Dominique is a talented 3D artist and interior designer with an impeccable eye for detail. She brings a strong sense of composition, lighting, and colour to every project, ensuring each visualisation is not just technically precise but atmospherically rich. Sometimes, designing a building involves multiple iterations—especially when working within a sensitive historical context, where retrofitting and extending an existing Art Deco structure requires careful consideration. In this case, visualisation played a crucial role in testing different ideas. A material or architectural detail might sound great in theory, yet prove inadequate when seen in full context. Over the past year and a half, we’ve collaborated closely with Paul Treacy Architects in visualising their 4-star hotel on Queen Street, Cardiff, supporting the various stages of their planning application. The visuals here document the project's evolution, showing how each iteration refined the design. I’m happy to say this is one of those instances where later versions brought everything together visually—so much so that the new extension now feels like it’s always been part of the streetscape. The final proposal delivers a high-quality, 158-key 4-star hotel with ground-floor retail, a feature rooftop sky bar, a landscaped roof garden, and a fine dining rooftop experience—creating a vibrant new destination that enhances Cardiff’s urban experience while supporting local employment and regeneration efforts. Do these images remind you of a crisp winter noon in East London? Can you picture yourself strolling along the canal, coffee in hand, absentmindedly admiring the longboats? Maybe even stopping by The Gregorian for a pint after wrapping up site photos? That’s the essence of good visualisation—it doesn’t need to shout. A scheme should feel like a natural part of its context, not an overworked spectacle. Striking, high-drama renders may turn heads, but they rarely leave a lasting impression. Subtle, believable visuals do. Images in order (brought to life by WyrdTree): 1, 2, 3. Primrose Road Mosque, Woodford. Design by Makespace Architects 4, 5, 6. While many struggle to see the city as worthy of exploration, nature is almost universally regarded as beautiful. Hiking coastal paths, camping in the Peaks, strolling along a canal or through the woods — these aren’t functional activities. They’re about being present, enjoying the landscape for its own sake. Schiller captured this idea well: true fulfilment, he argued, comes not from purpose but from setting it aside. He saw aesthetic experience as a kind of play—something done for its own sake, simply because it delights us. The Romantic view draws a rigid line between work and leisure, culture and nature. Strolling or hiking is seen as aimless but enjoyable—yet anyone who hikes knows that having a purpose can heighten the experience, not lessen it. Heading into nature with intent—whether foraging for mushrooms, managing woodlands, monitoring wildlife, dowsing, gardening, or even hobbies like photographing roe deer or scouting a spot for landscape painting—deepens our connection to the landscape. Work and play merge into a state of flow. We’re no longer outsiders looking in; nature isn’t just a resource or a backdrop—it becomes a presence, a ‘you’ rather than an ‘it’. The idea that logic and creativity, or work and play, are separate is misleading. Purpose and exploration should go hand in hand. In landscape-driven visuals, this means blending intention with curiosity, allowing the landscape to shape the process rather than just fitting it into predefined boxes. It's about seeing the landscape not as a backdrop, but as a living presence, where both the practical and the poetic coexist naturally. Images in order (brought to life by WyrdTree): 1. • 💭 What does it mean to take a landscape-centred approach to visualisation? We’re thrilled to have our work featured in Architecture Vogue Magazine, where we shared a bit about what drives the creative process behind Wyrd Tree’s visuals. Being 'landscape-driven' isn’t just a fancy term we toss around—it’s at the heart of how we craft visuals that feel alive, soulful, and full of atmosphere. 🔗 Read the full feature here: https://lnkd.in/d-deBsHZ #ArchitecturalVisualisation #LandscapeDriven

Architecture Vogue Magazine are excited to reintroduce the work of Wyrd Tree, and to share with you their latest project: Beyond Renders: A Landscape-Centred Approach to Visualisation... When describing the process behind Wyrd Tree’s visuals, I often refer to it as ‘landscape-driven.’ Though it may sound buzzwordy, it accurately captures our approach. Collaborators frequently say our images have ‘soul,’ ‘atmosphere,’ or a ‘painterly’ quality. This quality isn’t something that can simply be layered onto a visual, like icing on a cake. It’s a result of seeing the landscape as a living presence and letting it shape the entire process.... 🔗Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ekaWa-u7 📢 Mihail Bila | WyrdTree
