It was a privilege to host David Cohen from Alzheimer's Society today. Our team gathered to learn more about this incredible cause and how we can support them as our Charity of the Year. We discussed how the built environment and surroundings affect people with dementia, as well as the underlying causes of this devastating disease. Environmental factors such as access to greenery, water, and clean air can directly impact brain function. Those with limited access to these beneficial environments are 20-50% more likely to develop Alzheimer’s. Key takeaways: 🔵 Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK, affecting 1 in 3 people. 🔵40% of cases are diagnosed, leaving 60% undiagnosed. 🔵Memory loss is not a normal part of ageing. 🔵Alzheimer’s Society provides essential services, outreach, and advocacy for everyone affected. 🔵A person’s quality of life is directly linked to their ability to navigate their home. Following our session, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of Greengage’s JustGiving page in support of Alzheimer's Society. Behind the scenes, we’re busy planning an exciting calendar of events for the year, and we invite you to join us in this meaningful journey. How you can help: 💙 Visit our JustGiving page:https://lnkd.in/eXidHNJU 📱 Scan the QR Code to donate directly. 💌 Share with your network to inspire others to get involved. Every penny raised goes directly to Alzheimer's Society’s life-changing research, care, and support services. Thank you for standing with us in support of this vital cause. Together, we can make a real difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s. 💙 #AlzheimersSociety #CharityOfTheYear #SupportTheCause #TogetherWeCan

🗣️ "No Net Zero without PropTech..." This was one of our key takeaways from our last Sustainability Techfast "The Role of PropTech in Climate Resilience and Nature" alongside British Property Federation. 🌳 This round table explored how PropTech can help, including how data and technology can support the growth of green infrastructure and help the sector deliver on new biodiversity net gain requirements. The transformation of Leroy House is now complete, delivering an additional 1,888 sqm of flexible office, workshop and studio space for Workspace Group. The revitalised building also features a new ground floor café and expanded public realm, enhancing its connection to the surrounding community. Our design draws inspiration from the architectural language of the Grade II listed St Paul’s opposite and the character of the Canonbury Conservation Area. The building’s form responds thoughtfully to its residential context, with carefully articulated massing and a façade of light, warm brick that echoes the tones of St Paul’s white Gault brick. The new café and improved public realm have transformed what was once a car park into a welcoming, active frontage along Essex Road, further embedding Leroy House within its neighbourhood. We’re proud to see this project now complete, providing adaptable spaces that cater to a variety of tenants, especially small businesses, while enriching the local streetscape. Thanks to everyone who worked on the project! Heyne Tillett Steel Hoare Lea Stace Lichfields UK WSP GL Hearn Etude Caneparo Associates Greengage Environmental Ltd Pete Jennings Tom Glen

🪴🏘️ Investing in biodiversity is a smart and essential choice for housing providers, residents, and the wider economy – that’s the core message from our ‘Biodiversity and Housing’ summit on nature and housing held at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve which drew around 40 biodiversity and housing professionals from across England on March 18. “Creating space for nature doesn’t mean we have to compromise on what’s best for residents – they go hand in hand,” says our biodiversity and land manager Daniel Salliss, a quote which encapsulates the focal point of the day. Also contributing to the event were guest speakers including Morgan Taylor, director of environmental consultants Greengage Environmental Ltd Sam Jones from The Green Partnership, Jen Burlingham from the Norfolk and Suffolk Nature Recovery Partnership (nsnrp.org), kate digney from architecture firm Levitt Bernstein and representatives from the Norfolk Wildlife Trust – thank you so much for your time and contributions to what was an extremely successful day! It was incredibly valuable to bring everyone together and discuss the importance of biodiversity as a key consideration in the housing sector. If we get it right, the rewards will be felt not just in the environment, but in people’s lives and local economies.
