🏆 Four years in a row! 🏆 We’re so proud to share that XCO2 has won the CIBSE Building Performance Consultancy of the Year Award for the fourth consecutive year – an achievement that reflects both our growth and continued impact. 🎉 Starting with two wins in the ‘Up to 50 Employees’ category, we’ve now secured back-to-back victories in the ’51-300 employees’ category, highlighting our expansion while maintaining our commitment to sustainable, high-performance design. Since our last win, we’ve: ✅ Co-authored a Retrofit Social Housing publication, and supported the development of the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard. ✅ Expanded our material reuse work, integrating circular economy principles into projects. ✅ Delivered meaningful social value, supporting industry traineeship and community-led initiatives. ✅ Advanced building performance innovation, from AI-driven energy modelling to post-occupancy evaluations. The judges described our work as ‘a truly global approach to sustainability’, recognising the breadth of our impact across different regions and sectors. Heathlands School in St Albans, the UK’s largest school for deaf children and young people, has a brand-new six-classroom extension! ✨🏫 Designed with accessibility and inclusivity at its core, the space optimises natural light, ensures clear sightlines for communication, and provides a purpose-built learning environment. Working with Manalo & White, our team provided MEP services for this energy-efficient extension, incorporating a thermally efficient building fabric, PV panels, and air source heat pumps. Natural ventilation with heat recovery units were integrated to enhance indoor air quality and energy performance. We also demonstrated that the extension could connect to the school’s existing heating system, reducing both capital and maintenance costs. To ensure a fully integrated solution, the extension seamlessly connects with the school’s existing water, fire alarm, door access, and PA systems, supporting a cohesive and future-proofed learning environment. The Pineapples 2025 shortlist has been announced and Forest Road is in the running for an award in the Building category 🍍✨The Pineapple for Building seeks to recognise a completed building that makes a positive contribution to the wider place and its people. Forest Road provides 90 affordable one-bedroom homes for local first-time buyers in Walthamstow. The building achieves a high density of affordable housing within a predominantly low-rise context, with sensitivity to neighbouring terraced housing. The triangular site has contrasting contexts, with two-storey Victorian terraces lining streets on two sides and the arterial Forest Road as its main frontage. The scheme considers not only its occupants, but sensitively negotiates these differing characters with a sculpted massing that steps up from three to five storeys on Forest Road, reinstating active frontages that were part of the historic urban grain. 📷: Jack Hobhouse Client: Pocket Living #architectureawards #thepineapples
