Following the recent ambitious goal to “eradicate inactivity and unemployment for our young people” announced by the Prime Minister, today’s Autumn Budget contained some welcome positive intent to address the challenge. 📑 Our CEO, Barry Fletcher, responds to the announcements made in today's Autumn Budget. "We welcome the specific reference to the Youth Guarantee which partially adopts the Young Persons Guarantee called for by Youth Futures and fellow co-chairs of the Youth Employment Group. "We look forward to the upcoming publication of the Get Britain Working White Paper, and the further details of the Youth Guarantee ‘trailblazers’ outlined today." About us
Youth Futures Foundation is the What Work’s Centre for youth employment. We aim to narrow employment gaps for young people facing the greatest challenges by identifying what works and why and investing in evidence generation to improve policy and practice. Everything we do is guided by robust evidence of what works to support young people from marginalised backgrounds into good jobs. We learn from the projects we fund and scale up that learning to drive genuine, long-lasting systemic change

October is Black History Month in the UK. This year's theme is Reclaiming Narratives. It’s about recognising and showcasing the complex realities of Black history, culture, and stories and shining a light on untold success stories. As we approach the end of October and Black History Month winds down, we’re building up to a key milestone in our three-year partnership with Business in the Community with a Seeing is Believing visit to the Young Brent Foundation next week. We hope that by taking business leaders into this community setting, to meet the young people, we can help draw out the complexities of their experiences, and shift employers’ perceptions by drawing attention to the disproportionate barriers that Black young people face in their journeys to employment. Last chance to submit your evidence on what works to promote EDI in the workplace! The Institute for Employment Studies (IES) are working with us to collate evidence on what works to promote employer action and behaviour change in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), with a particular focus on young people from Black, Pakistani and Bangladeshi backgrounds. To capture the existing evidence, IES will systematically interrogate relevant materials in the public domain. But, we know there will be good quality evidence that may not be publicly available. If you have evidence that you’d like to recommend, we’d love to know about it. Find out more about what we’re looking for and how to submit evidence, before Thursday 31 October: https://lnkd.in/ehizRqnA

🔈 To mark #NationalMentoringDay, Football Beyond Borders practitioner Khai tells us why the support he provides as a trusted adult is important for young people. Our Building Futures programme in partnership with Football Beyond Borders will test the power of mentoring and wellbeing support for secondary school students at risk of missing out on further learning or employment. The design of the programme will have the strongest international evidence for mentoring at its heart. ➡️https://lnkd.in/ekxZjrjC
