🎥 Our colleagues from CALEDONIA Offshore Wind Farm and the wider OW Ocean Winds UK team have taken a starring role in a new film produced to mark the milestone launch of the National Energy System Operator. 🎬 Caledonia’s Head of Engineering Sarah Graham, Jamie Dempster, Senior O&M Manager at Moray West Offshore Wind Farm, and Ocean Winds Project Engineer Erin Baker discussed the role of offshore wind in producing cleaner, sustainable and affordable energy and how projects like Caledonia are strengthening local economies and communities. 🍿 Watch more in Your Future – a series produced by the NESO to demonstrate how it will strategically plan energy infrastructure, develop markets and innovate to meet the growing demand for decarbonised energy.
At NESO, we're shaping an energy system that supports economic growth and prosperity for Great Britain, creating jobs and building skills. This valuable opportunity will help protect the environment for current and future generations and ensure energy is affordable for everyone. Learn more about NESO: https://bit.ly/3Y3hkZm

Staff and students at Dumfries and Galloway College welcomed Ivan McKee MSP to their Dumfries campus, where he had the opportunity to test out the mobile virtual reality training as part of CALEDONIA Offshore Wind Farm’s partnership with the Energy Skills Partnership (ESP). The Caledonia-funded equipment allows students to hone their welding skills in environments similar to those they can expect to encounter when working in the offshore wind industry, developing vital skills without being in the field. The equipment, launched in January, forms part of a broader strategic relationship between Caledonia’s developer, OW Ocean Winds, and ESP – the college sector agency in Scotland for STEM – to ensure colleges are aligned with the skills needs of the growing offshore wind sector. #Caledonia #OffshoreWind #STEM #EnergySkills

💡Did you know? 🏴 Caledonia is targeting 60% local content. We aim to provide opportunities for the supply chain in Scotland to take advantage of Caledonia in development, construction, operation and maintenance phases. This includes using local ports for assembly and installation, localising operational hubs and investing in the people and infrastructure required to help support Scotland’s long-term offshore wind supply chain. #Caledonia #OffshoreWind #SupplyChain #GreenEnergy

Have you ever wondered how CALEDONIA Offshore Wind Farm assesses its environmental impact? 🌿🐠🐝 Caledonia has undertaken several environmental impact studies including onshore and offshore scoping reports. These surveys are vital for identifying and mitigating the potential impacts of onshore and offshore infrastructure works on habitats and species. Currently in the development phase, the project team is focused on preparing Caledonia’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as part of its planning application. #Caledonia #OffshoreWindDevelopment #EnvironmentalImpact #NetZero

At the beginning of the year CALEDONIA Offshore Wind Farm launched a strategic partnership with Energy Skills Partnership (ESP) to supply augmented reality (AR) systems that offer state of the art welding skills training in Scottish colleges. The Caledonia-funded AR systems, and the electric van used to transport them across Scotland, allowing island and rural communities to also benefit from the equipment, provide colleges with the opportunity to enhance their welding courses and offer train-the-trainer sessions to prepare staff for using the headsets. 🎉 Ahead of the new academic year the van and equipment visited 10 colleges, with 48 teachers completing the train-the-trainer sessions ensuring they are familiar with the AR systems. The AR welding headsets are now being used by students during classes, providing valuable training to the workforce of the future.
