We are incredibly proud of Dr. Allan Discua Cruz, Director of the Centre for Family Business (UK) Lancaster University Management School, who delivered a standout keynote speech at the AIFBAR Conference, hosted at Ulster University in the vibrant city of #Belfast. Dr. Discua Cruz’s keynote, "Unlocking the Power of Narrative and Crafting a Program of Research," captivated the audience with profound insights into how narrative shapes and advances family business research. His impactful contribution reflects the Centre's commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation in this vital field. The conference also featured remarkable keynotes by Prof. Kristel Miller (Ulster University), presenting "Developing Collaboration and Funding," and Prof. Natalia Vershinina (Audencia), presenting "Sacralization and the Intergenerational Transmission of Values in Cadbury." Both talks offered inspiring perspectives on family business collaboration, funding, and intergenerational dynamics. A special thanks to Ian Smyth, Eric Clinton and the organizing team for creating such an impactful event that brought together a dynamic community of distinguished academics, practitioners and early-career researchers including our centre members, Mohammad Hossein Abbasi Esbourezi and Anis A. who presented their research during the workshop. #FamilyBusiness #GlobalCommunity #CFB Lancaster University Lancaster University Management School LUMS Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy

The Role of Family Activities in #FamilyBusiness #Succession While much of the focus on family business succession centres around business-related activities, everyday family practices—like cooking, shopping, or even washing—can be crucial in preparing the next generation for leadership. In the latest issue of Fifty-Four Degrees, Dr. BingBing Ge explores how these seemingly simple family interactions can foster a sense of commitment and willingness in the next generation to take on leadership roles. By engaging in such activities, the next generation absorbs the family’s culture, values, and history, essential to ensuring a smooth and sustainable transition. Kudos to Bingbing's co-authors Eleanor Hamilton and Kajsa Haag Ph. D. for contributing to this insightful study! Last weekend, our #CFB researchers participated in the 20th International Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Family Business (#ISEFB) held by Zhejiang University Management School. With the theme "Sustainable Development of #FamilyBusiness under New Quality Productivity," the conference aimed to bring together experts and scholars from academia, industry, and related fields to provide new ideas and directions for the future development of family businesses. We are delighted that Prof. Alfredo De Massis and Dr. BingBing Ge provided keynote speeches for the conference. By looking beyond business, Prof. Alfredo De Massis shared significant insights on the entrepreneurial family galaxy in the Chinese context based on his new book, “The Family Business Book: A Roadmap for entrepreneurial families to prosper across generations,” with Emanuela Rondi. Dr. Bingbing Ge presented “Family Business Research and application: #History and #Memory”, emphasizing the importance of exploiting history and memory in family business studies by taking #ESG practices and family offices as examples. Besides, it was a great honour that our PhD Candidate Yingting Zhu’s paper, “The Use of #History in Family Business Research: A Systematic Literature Review and Bibliometric Analysis”, was awarded the Second Best Paper Prize. Her paper highlights six critical themes of the application of history in family business research and suggests potential contributions to the future research agenda of organizational research. This is a great opportunity for us to learn how Chinese family business research can continue to family business innovation practices and sustainable development from this platform. We would like to express gratitude for the warm hospitality of Zhejiang University and send huge congratulations on the successful convening of the 20th ISEFB and the 10th anniversary of the Entrepreneurship College. #FamilyBusiness #GlobalCommunity #CFB Lancaster University Lancaster University Management School LUMS Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy Centre for Family Business (UK) Lancaster University Management School
