Day2 at #IMC2024 was swamped. The bustling crowd, the endless meetings, and an amazing panel discussion made for a great day. I had the honor to join a panel discussion with some esteemed speakers on an important topic that is impacting everyone globally "The action plan for Circular Economy". Sumit Kapoor opened the panel by reminding us that the principles of a #CircularEconomy are embedded in our very DNA, giving the example of how Indian mothers have long practiced maximizing the use of materials. Key takeaways from our discussion: # Embrace the framework of reuse, repair, refurbish, and recycle. # Data and traceability gaps are among the biggest barriers to building a circular economy in #telecoms. Solving these will unlock significant potential. # The day cost to throw a material will outweigh the cost to recycle, the foundation of circular economy will be naturally laid out. # Collaboration across the entire supply chain, especially between #telcos, manufacturers, and OEMs, is vital to prolong the lifespan of devices. New features should be rolled out as software upgrades, enhancing device longevity. # Emerging technologies like blockchain can support better traceability and record-keeping.
