Just a week ago, on April 18th, Spark Meetup, a proud member of the Crick Science Entrepreneur Network (CSEN), orchestrated the thought-provoking event titled "Decentralised Science: Revolutionising Data and Funding". Our platform brought together visionaries and pioneers in the field, each offering distinct perspectives on how decentralization is reshaping scientific research and funding. Among the esteemed speakers were: 🔬 Bharat H., Founder of DeSci London, London 🔬 Nikhil Vadgama, Founder of DLT Science Foundation 🔬 Maria Marinova, PhD, Core Team Member at VitaDAO Additionally, attendees were treated to a captivating flash talk by Daniel Baeriswyl, PhD, PhD, CEO of Science Card, shedding light on the future of decentralized science. DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization): Organizational structures operated by rules encoded as smart contracts, managing research funding, decision-making, and publication processes autonomously within DeSci. Digital Tokens: Units of value issued by projects or organizations within DeSci, used to incentivize and reward behaviors such as contributing data or peer reviewing. Smart Contracts: Self-executing contracts with terms written into code, facilitating, verifying, or enforcing contract performance automatically within DeSci. Zero-Knowledge Proofs: A method allowing one party to prove knowledge of a value without revealing the value itself, enhancing privacy and security within DeSci. DeSci Platforms: Online networks employing blockchain technology to host scientific research, funding, and collaboration tools without centralized oversight, promoting decentralized innovation and collaboration.
