Every 15 seconds, a child dies because of hunger. Without long-term US government funding, even more children will die. Hunger is a crisis. It’s also one we can solve. Reliable funding to tackle malnutrition and hunger creates a healthier, more secure world. For 45 years, we have led the sector in innovation. We invented the first formula to treat malnourished children, conduct groundbreaking research to promote impact and efficiency, and scale what works globally.

I was quoted yesterday in this Devex piece about the sectoral implications of the USAID cuts. FEWS NET, the government’s Famine Early Warning Systems Network, a global tool designed to detect humanitarian crises before they escalate has been severely impacted. Cuts like these will have unforeseen ripple effects that can be prevented. Read more here.

🎉 Well, this is exciting! 🎉 Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA was named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in the Not-For-Profit Space for 2025. We were recognized as one of the top ten most innovative nonprofits globally for our approaches predicting hunger hotspots and streamlining treatment for malnourished children. “We are inspired by the people we serve and have seen them overcome unthinkable challenges – with the right support. But conflict, climate change and budget cuts mean that hunger is once again on the rise. Today, nearly one in three people worry about where their next meal is coming from. Hunger is a crisis. Yet, by investing in innovation, it is a crisis we can solve,” said our CEO Dr. Charles Owubah. Learn more about the award here: https://bit.ly/3XTtqU7 #Innovation #FCMostInnovative #awards

This bar is lifesaving. Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) is a powerful paste that can bring a severely malnourished child from the brink of death to full recovery in just 45 days. With a 90% success rate, RUTF is proven to heal children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM)—the deadliest form of hunger. In 2023 alone, Action Against Hunger used RUTF to treat 355,000 children with SAM, saving countless lives. With RUTF, we can stop these preventable deaths and help children grow, learn, and play like they should. But right now, funding cuts to USAID are causing delays in getting this lifesaving food to those who need it most. While the White House has reinstated funding, there's still uncertainty about when this vital food will reach the children who depend on it. That’s why we need your support. Together, we can make sure these lifesaving bars reach every child in need. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eWHBbR8

"The world is entering a new phase where the reliance on foreign aid is rapidly diminishing. While the immediate effects of aid cuts are deeply concerning—especially for countries like Ethiopia, where almost 16 million people are expected to need food support in 2024, and funding for food aid has stopped. As Charles Owubah of Action Against Hunger warns, “It’s just a matter of time before people die.” Read the full article in The Economist: #GlobalHunger #NonprofitInnovation #Advocacy #Aid

Women are at the heart of the fight against hunger. They grow, cook, and provide food, yet too often they eat last and least. They’re nutritionists, health workers, community mobilizers, and emergency responders, leading the charge to create a hunger-free world. Through their dedication, entire communities grow stronger, healthier, and more resilient. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD #WomenAgainstHunger
