I wanted to take a moment to wish a happy Doctors’ Day to the more than 20,000 physicians across Advocate Health.   Each day, the physicians at our hospitals, clinics, and health care facilities deliver exceptional care with endless compassion—treating every person who walks through our doors the same way they’d want a loved one to be treated in the same position.   A doctor's work is not just a profession; it is a calling to serve others and strengthen communities, from our most rural towns to our most urban cities. Today, and every day, we are so grateful for you and the extraordinary work you do. And today, and every day, we will do everything we can to support you.    So, to all of Advocate Health’s doctors, I want to say: thank you!

Meet Cynthia — chief of staff and senior vice president of the Macon Market at Atrium Health Navicent. Cynthia shares what inspires her as well as her favorite mantra: “Nearly 23 years ago, I started my journey at Atrium Health Navicent as the director of Marketing. I’ve had the opportunity to grow and advance through various leadership roles across different divisions. These diverse experiences have profoundly shaped my professional journey, and I’m continually inspired by our teams’ incredible dedication to delivering the best possible care to our patients and their families. It has been a privilege to do my part to serve the central Georgia community, and support those providing health and wellness services. No matter the task, I remain grounded by holding dear the mantra that ‘every person we serve is loved by someone,’ which serves as a reminder that every patient is a unique individual who is treasured by family and friends. As we address their overall health, we are entrusted with their dignity, privacy, and most importantly, their holistic healing process, and that is a sacred mission for us all....I’m proud to honor the many women leaders across all disciplines who have paved the way in health care administration and community service and hope to continue to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to the people of central Georgia through my role.”

Meet Mercedes Washington — director of Patient Safety for the Aurora Health Care Central Wisconsin Area and Behavioral Health Service Line. Mercedes reflects on her career journey from her early desire to make a difference to nursing and mentoring others: “Growing up, I was inspired by my mother, a single teen mom and a dedicated CNA, who tirelessly balanced her profession with raising my twin sister and me. Observing her compassion and commitment to her work, I realized from a young age that I wanted to help people just as she did. As a first-generation college student, I faced numerous challenges, but my unwavering desire to make a difference propelled me forward. Becoming a Registered Nurse was the culmination of my lifelong aspiration to provide care and support to those in need. My leadership role has provided the opportunity to transition from direct patient care to mentoring others and improving processes for delivering exceptional care. As a director of Patient Safety, I have significant influence on the well-being of patients and colleagues. Although they may never meet me or know my name, it is satisfying to know that my work contributes to making our health care system safer for future patients. Every day, I am reminded of the magnitude of empathy, resilience and dedication. These values, instilled in me by my mother, continue to drive my commitment to health care.”
