It may seem like nonstop offshore wind news coming out of AKRF, but it's that dynamic of a market. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announced its approval of the Atlantic Shores South offshore wind energy project, for which AKRF supported ICF in preparing the NEPA Environmental Impact Statement. The Record of Decision documents the decision to approve the construction of up to 195 wind turbine generators by Shell New Energies and EDF Renewables North America. Congratulations to MNLA and our city partners at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, and NYC Department of Design and Construction on opening the new upland park facilities at Pier 42 along the East River waterfront in Lower Manhattan. AKRF provided pre-construction remediation consulting and cultural resources monitoring during construction, and we closely coordinated the project's utilities and roadway design with our neighboring East Side Coastal Resiliency project. #park #playground #openspace #Pier42

The continued loss of New Jersey’s salt marshes in the age of sea level rise is a grave concern. Kudos to the State of New Jersey for capitalizing on the approximately 600,000 cubic yards of mud, silt, sand, and other sediment dredged from the Delaware Bay—for construction of the New Jersey Wind Port—to replenish sunken marshland within Abbotts Meadow Wildlife Management Area. Beneficial reuse of Delaware River sediment is a critical tool for combating marsh habitat loss due to climate change and AKRF is proud to play a role while providing regulatory support to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) at the New Jersey Wind Port. #newjerseywindport #offshorewind #environment #ecology https://lnkd.in/e-VsKA43
