Our team member, Lyn Tally, recently attended Ocean Plastics Leadership Network’s fall expedition. From September 10th-13th, they explored Maine and Quebec’s innovative waste management and recycling systems with a diverse group of industry, government, and environmental leaders. Here’s what they learned: 🔄 Innovative Solutions: Forward-thinking approaches like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and bottle return schemes are helping create smarter, more efficient waste systems in Maine and Quebec. ♻️ Rethinking Waste: Companies are exploring creative ways to reduce single-use plastics, design reusable containers, and make waste systems more effective. Ensuring food-grade recycled materials and cleaner composting streams remains a challenge. 🌐 Global Insights: Quebec’s comprehensive approach to waste management offers valuable lessons on efficiency, showing a different path compared to current practices elsewhere.
