#TBT 🔙 From March 11-12, 2024, Schwarzman Scholars alumni gathered at the International House of Japan in Tokyo for a seminar hosted by the Asia Society Policy Institute. The event featured 23 alumni from 7 cohorts and 10 countries, who engaged in robust dialogues with ASPI experts and invited speakers. Congratulations to South Korean author Han Kang for winning the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature! She is the first writer from Korea and the first Asian woman to win this award. The Swedish Academy commended her writing as seen in the novel “The Vegetarian,” for its “intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.” Kang was born in Korea in 1970. She started out her writing career as a poet and later gained recognition as a novelist by publishing her work and receiving numerous prestigious literary awards.
