🇺🇸🗳️ Chargée d'Affaires Sophie Karlshausen and her team had the honor of briefing a Belgian parliamentary delegation led by Senate President Mrs. Valérie De Bue and House President Mr. Peter De Roover, with 4 other members of the Belgian Parliament in preparation for the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) U.S. electoral observation mission. The Belgian delegation attended an OSCE briefing and will be deployed across the U.S. to observe elections on November 5, including in Washington, D.C., Nevada, Virginia and Michigan. Approximately 150 OSCE PA observers, including 130 parliamentarians from 40 countries, are in the U.S. for the 10th election observation mission since 2004. In Washington, DC, they were briefed by experts, stakeholders, party representatives, and election officials, and are now carrying out their mission in various states. Last night the Consulates General of Ireland and Belgium jointly presented an advance screening of “Small Things Like These.” This stunning film was a collaboration between so many amazing people and organizations including (but not limited to): Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Belgian Tax Shelter, Artists Equity, Lionsgate, Belgian director Tim Mielants, and was based off of Irish author, Claire Keegan’s novella.
