TL;DR - Our Healthcare AI investment strategy in three parts ⤵️ 1️⃣ Modality-business model-market fit is everything: The way an AI solution is delivered (e.g., software, copilots, diagnostics) and the business model (SaaS, usage-based, performance-based) can impact TAM by up to 25x. A company’s value creation hinges on aligning the right modality with the right market and business model. 2️⃣ Multimodal AI is the holy grail: Healthcare data is multi-dimensional, combining clinical records, imaging, and more. The ability to integrate these data types unlocks vast possibilities in diagnostics, personalized care, and system-wide improvements. We’re only scratching the surface of what’s possible with multimodal AI. 3️⃣ Infrastructure is the next frontier: As Healthcare AI scales, cybersecurity, data management, and model monitoring will become essential. Startups that address these needs will play a crucial role in supporting the safe and effective adoption of AI in healthcare. If you’re building in Healthcare AI, we want to hear from you. CEO & Co-founder at Optibus

Insights from Saastock: Scaling in 35 Countries and 6,000 Cities! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sharing insights on "Building a Global GTM Unicorn" on the Centre Stage at the SaaStock event in Dublin. Alongside Alex Ferrara from Bessemer Venture Partners, we explored the complexities of scaling a vertical SaaS company like Optibus in the dynamic field of public transportation. As we expand globally, our mission remains clear: to make public transportation better. Together. Around the globe. We discussed when to pursue growth across multiple countries and how to effectively manage a diverse product that meets the specific needs of each market - be it through centralized strategies or localized adaptations in functions like marketing, sales, and customer success. A significant focus was on how our technology adapts to different urban landscapes, crucial for our clients in public transportation. Concluding on our values, our global expansion is driven by our commitment to empowering public transportation systems and ensuring every client and team member feels valued and understood. This dedication is central to our mission as we continue to grow. Thank you to Alex for the insightful discussion and to all who attended for your engaging questions and enthusiasm. Your participation inspires our continuous innovation and commitment to improving public transportation systems around the world. #SaaStock2024 #PublicTransportation #SaaS

Had a fantastic time at The Wall Street Journal's CIO Network Summit in NYC last week, joining Shardul Shah of Index Ventures and Isabelle Bousquette of The WSJ to discuss "What's Next in Enterprise Tech Investing?". CIOs play a crucial procurement role for their organizations, with a unique dual mandate to execute core initiatives that are essential for day-to-day operations while also investing in strategic technologies that can drive future competitive advantage. Naturally, the impact of AI on organizations was a recurring theme throughout the Summit as CIOs are currently at the frontline evaluating AI solutions for their companies. Many CIOs highlighted how the increasing proliferation of AI vendor options has led to choice fatigue. Considering the crowded landscape, a few CIOs mentioned how their organizations may be better off waiting for stronger reliability signals — be it more consolidation, the emergence of clear winners on the startup side, or incumbents incorporating AI functionality — before making major AI investments. How should we think about fragmentation vs consolidation in the landscape as AI markets mature? Watch the full discussion: https://lnkd.in/eebFJ2mu Read my Substack summary: https://lnkd.in/ee4q-9nu

As part of our Operating Advisor Spotlight series, we’re excited to highlight some of the incredible advisors in our network who dedicate time to advising and supporting business leaders across the Bessemer portfolio. With that in mind, please meet— Payal Sobti.✨ Payal is a product strategy expert with extensive experience in high-growth startups, specializing in marketplaces, fintech, consumer, and B2B SaaS. Currently, as Head of Product Development at ResQ, a Series A company offering restaurant back-of-house SaaS and a marketplace for trades services, Payal leads the development of a growth-focused product roadmap. Previously, Payal was a founding team member of Uber Eats, where she helped launch Uber’s first merchant-facing products. She also played a key role in launching Uber One globally, scaling the subscription service to 10 markets and three million subscribers in its first year. After Uber, she served as Director of Product at Cash App, overseeing its international expansion into the UK and Canada, while leading key product roadmap decisions and driving pricing and adjacency strategies. As an Operating Advisor, Payal collaborates with portfolio leaders across several key areas, including organizational development, crafting product roadmaps aligned with long-term goals, refining pricing strategies, and exploring opportunities for adjacent market expansion. We’re thrilled to partner with Payal and to have her as part of the Bessemer team.

Our thesis for the series A of Rupa Health was simple: 1. Tara Viswanathan runs through walls 2. Personalized and root cause care is going mainstream Both proved more true than we could have imagined. Rupa's growth and impact has been amazing. But it is still early days. Congrats on teaming up with Fullscript to bring personalized and holistic care to every human on the planet. Working with Tara is one of the highlights of my career. I've known her since college. She was born to be an entrepreneur. One of her superpowers is being a "realistic optimistic" (I wrote about it here: https://lnkd.in/g4GifBSe). I've learned a lot from her and her team. Thank you, Tara, Rosa Hamalainen and team Rupa! Congrats on the acquisition!!
