Yesterday, we had an incredible time celebrating the completion of the programming for AlphaLab! Congratulations to our amazing companies Bindr®, FoodSocial.io, Foundera, Peoples Energy Analytics. These exceptional companies have shown remarkable growth and dedication to reaching this milestone. 🎉 We are ready to name the 52 participants of the 4th batch of StartUp Academy by Genesis and Meta, an acceleration program for pre-seed & seed stage startups. 💫 It was an exciting process, and finally all the steps were done. Over 2,000 startups were in the test stage, 885 pitch decks were created, and 145 founders were selected for the last stage — personal interviews. AlphaLab has been such an important and rewarding program so far. With their help, we're getting thousands of users a DAY. We went from a basic dating app, to features such as a social feed, multiple feeds of matching, grid AND swipe exploring and more. Taking the best features in community and dating and giving them back to the communities that need and are looking for apps like ours. In a year we went from an app, to a company, to a company people were willing to pay for and now a company and product that people love and a full blown industry disruptor. We always find the most exciting part of this journey is to see where this growth will be at in a year and with the help of AlphaLab, there really is no limit. Here's a great article on the issues of biphobia, what it means to be dating as a bisexual and how some major dating apps are doing some not so great things with their algorithms to further divide the community. We really couldn't of put it any better ourselves as to why we made Bindr and why sexual orientations can create problems for people and their identity. We're so grateful for the feature by DatingAdvice.com. What's been so interesting that we never expected when starting this company has been other industry leaders and apps have also come to the same conclusion we have. They know they have a problem, but they also have their audience and users established already. Being a fluid platform that fills those in-between gaps that many missed has added a lot to the market. Some of the best ideas are the ones that seem so obvious but were so easy to miss. Whether you're apart of the silent B, pansexual, gay, non-binary, trans, lesbian, gay or anything in between.
