📊 Last week, we were delighted to present benchmark insights on employee #volunteering programmes at the Global Corporate Volunteer Council (GCVC) member convening. A big thank you to the #GCVC and IAVE for the opportunity to engage and exchange ideas with this brilliant network, and to the B4SI members who shared their real-world examples of how impact measurement supports and empowers their corporate programmes. 🤝 Nicola Inge and Genevieve Widger highlighted the growing trend of companies measuring the business impact of employee volunteering and how this data-driven approach is helping organisations secure broader internal buy-in for community investment initiatives. 🗣️ Alexis Steadman, Global Community Manager at RELX, and Helen Devanny, Vice President – Sage Foundation at Sage, your examples truly showcased the importance of data-driven approaches to maximising impact and the benefits of participating in #socialimpact networks. 💬 Collaborating and exchanging best practices through avenues such as #B4SI and the #GCVC is essential to advancing ever more meaningful societal contributions from the corporate sector. Together, we can continue to elevate the case for measuring and benchmarking community investments, creating positive outcomes for both communities and businesses. Want to learn more? When businesses speak the same language in social impact, they can benchmark progress, collaborate more effectively, and collectively contribute to a more equitable world. Lauren Hicks, Steering Group member and Head of Social Impact at QBE Insurance puts it perfectly: 💬 “It is critical that organisations working in social impact have a framework to measure outcomes, and when more organisations align to the same methodology, we can start to see the collective impact of our work and progress against the UN SDGs.” 🌍 Are you looking to strengthen how your organisation measures its social impact? In the early 1990s, B4SI’s story started when NatWest Group recognised the need for a more sustainable and measurable approach to corporate philanthropy. While the bank had the largest reported giving programme in the UK, there was no robust way to measure their true impact. To close this gap, in 1994, NatWest and Corporate Citizenship initiated the creation of a standard framework to bring rigour, accountability, and transparency to corporate giving. A small group of leading companies across sectors came together to design metrics that could assess, beyond immediate outcomes, the lasting impact of corporate philanthropic efforts—forming the London Benchmarking Group (LBG). Fast-forward to 2020, and LBG transformed into Business for Societal Impact (B4SI), reflecting an evolved mission to drive societal impact also through innovation and procurement. Today, B4SI empowers more businesses than ever to align their giving with strategic goals, ensuring every contribution counts—not just for the company but for society at large, as by Michael Duncan's remark. 🌟 #SocialImpact #CSR #CommunityInvestment #SocialProcurement #BusinessInnovation
