Did you know today is International Day of Happiness? This year's theme of "Caring & Sharing" is also the title of the latest World Happiness Report, which explores the latest research on the importance of benevolence, empathy and trust as drivers of individual and national happiness. Small acts, when repeated by many, are transformative. Butterfield Trail Village is a microcosm of how this works...every smile, every gesture of concern or compassion, each hug or shared laugh...when we perpetuate these things, our little community thrives on happiness, even in the face of the inevitable challenges of life. #InternationalDayofHappiness #smile #joy #seniorliving #butterfield

If you haven't already seen our latest issue of Butterfield LIFE in hard copy, take a look at our digital version! We think you'll enjoy short vignettes with current portraits of five sets of sisters who live at Butterfield. You'll also find a profile about BTV's ever-smiling security supervisor Jeff Parsons, whose long and remarkable journey as a safety professional eventually led him to serve our campus today. And, if you've ever wondered what our Health Care Center looks like inside, please check out this issue's photo spread to help orient you. Cheers and sunshiny days to you as we head into spring!

It was the MAID! What a fun evening transpired in the BTV Performance Hall for a light-hearted whodunnit last weekend. A full house of residents gathered for a murder mystery dinner, and plenty of crowd discussion ensued before the hapless killer was finally revealed. Many thanks go to very dedicated cast members and the co-directors/writers who worked so hard for many evenings to bring this fun little production to life, and to TheatreSquared for invaluable help with obtaining set furniture. Additional thanks go to BTV director of programs and events Riki Stamps for not only inspiring the idea of a murder mystery dinner theatre, but for supporting the work of local performers and creators to make it possible. #theatre #liveperformance #seniorliving #Butterfield

Butterfield Trail Village has a long history of celebrating the performing arts and making live cultural events accessible to our residents. This Friday, Butterfield presents an original murder mystery dinner theatre, full of over-the-top characters and an opportunity for the audience to help solve the shocking murder of gossip columnist Anita Hayward. The evening's event is already at capacity for what is sure to be a bit of intrigue and fun! #theatre #liveperformance #seniorliving #Butterfield

When you're operating the equivalent of a small city within a city, it takes a whole brigade of employees to keep things not only operating, but thriving. This annual employee Christmas party hosted by the BTV Employee Appreciation Committee is the one time each year when everyone is encouraged to gather together all at once. There's great food, holiday attire and the occasional shenanigans...but most of all there's fellowship and time to say thank you for jobs well done. Merry Christmas, Butterfield team. Your service and dedication is a gift all year long. ❤ #happyholidays #thankyou #dedication #Butterfield

Butterfield's Resident Christmas Elves have been extremely busy, as well as VERY generous the last few weeks...and today several of them got to play Santa!! BTV residents independently organize and fund an annual "Christmas Purse," which offers a way for those who live at BTV to provide a holiday cash gift to the staff who serve and care for them throughout the year. For 2024, residents raised a truly remarkable amount, over $130,000, which was divvied up and distributed in person to happy employees all over campus. This year's fund drive was spearheaded by Marolyn Fields and Doug Prichard, and everyone's cumulative efforts shattered past records. On behalf of Butterfield staff, THANK YOU to every person who gave so generously to make sure the holidays are extra-special for our hardworking BTV team.

For those who provide hands-on care for others and focus daily on their well-being, it's essential to refresh critical skills. This week, all of Butterfield's healthcare team members are spending time at our annual Skills Fair to ensure the medical staff is confident, knowledgeable and up-to-date on technology and techniques. Thanks to our teaching team for making learning best practices fun and engaging! #continuingeducation #seniorliving #bestpractices

The neighbors on Butterfield's 3rd Floor South never let much time pass without finding a way to celebrate! To kick off December in a flurry of garlands and wreaths festooned with red ribbon and ornaments, this fun crew assigned a list of proper elf duties to get their entire floor decked out for the season in no time...all while feasting on a loaded table of treats. You can be sure these Santa's helpers weren't thinking only of themselves--they also donated canned goods for the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas homeless food pantry. The 3S residents wish everyone Happy Holidays! #retirement #seniorliving #butterfield
