One week until our upcoming webinar with Corey Johnson and Ian Sample! They’ll be sharing essential tools and strategies to help airport staff gain leadership support for net zero initiatives. Don’t miss out! 🌍✈️
Airports globally have committed to achieving net zero carbon by 2050. Now that the goal has been set, airport staff are left with the major challenge of making it happen. One key hurdle is getting the buy-in from airport leadership to invest the capital and staff resources necessary to plan and implement emission reduction activities. Successfully getting leadership on board requires a solid understand of an airport’s carbon baseline, the magnitude of feasible emissions reductions, and the timeline and costs of proposed projects. These technical elements must be articulated in the context of broader strategic and economic objectives that are front of mind for airport executives. This session will assist airport staff in understanding the tools and messaging that will help to secure net zero buy-in from leadership. The presentation will include an overview of the “toolkit” that is available to airport staff to understand their airport’s pathway to net zero. It will also provide actionable guidance for how to translate net zero verbiage such as GHGs, MTCO2e, and “science-based targets” into language and priorities that airport executives live and breathe.

"It was such an honor to contribute to this amazing project. From the very inception of the Concourse A expansion, we collaborated with the airport and our design and construction teammates with one goal in mind: to enhance the customer experience at Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR). It took a complete team effort to design the project, despite the uncertainty of the pandemic, and then build it with minimal disruption once the terminal was operating again. Congratulations to the entire team on an incredible job and thank you for the opportunity!" Michael Holdwick #aviation #structuralengineers #civilengineers

✈️ Project Spotlight | Accelerated Sound Insulation Program | 📍 Washington The Port of Seattle’s “Accelerated” Sound Insulation Program looks to rapidly acoustically treat up to 140 single-family residences, 903 apartment units in 18 apartment complexes, and seven places of worship within its noise-eligibility boundary by the end of 2026. To complete this work in this fast-paced program phase, the C&S team has relied on decades of national sound insulation experience to craft a phasing plan to meet this critical delivery timeline. One of the first orders of business was to craft effective yet flexible policies and procedures that are adaptable to a variety of construction delivery models and meet both the FAA’s national requirements and the expectations of the Seattle Airport District Office. Managing participant expectations involves communicating program requirements, treatments, and details to all interested individuals and organizations to avoid confusion and manage expectations regarding what treatments will be provided or how the process is executed. With C&S’s capacity and depth of resources, we could begin work on all phases of this program simultaneously. Each phase also requires varying approaches and methods. Our ability to develop and plan out each phase and collectively roll that into an overall program schedule has allowed us to establish a clear path for the client and specific milestones that are key in ensuring successful program completion by the end of 2026. To date, all single-family homes were identified for construction at the start of the program, and a small number of new single-family participants have entered the program recently and are currently in design. Design has been completed for all apartment complexes and places of worship. The construction contract for the apartment phase of the program has been awarded and is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2024. Places of worship were advertised for bid in July 2024 and are expected to start construction in 2025. https://lnkd.in/eSGnUSmb
