Seven ministries, one purpose to serve all people.

About us

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver has been serving northern Colorado since 1927. We serve tens of thousands of people each year in seven ministries: Marisol Services (for women), Early Childhood Education, Shelter Services, Archdiocesan Housing, Sacred House Counseling; Family, Kinship, and Senior Services; and Parish & Community Services. We also provide disaster relief services, such as the northern Colorado floods of 2013. Catholic Charities is open to, and serves, all people. Volunteers donated 72,980 hours of their time to serve others through Catholic Charities in our most recent fiscal year. We collaborate with Catholic parishes, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, medical facilities and educational institutions.

The Annual Gathering is always a joyful opportunity to connect with and learn from our Catholic Charities peers across the country. This year's was no exception, with interesting, timely workshops, compelling plenaries, spiritual refreshment—and plenty of time for networking and fun! We are incredibly grateful to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City for hosting us and sharing the very best of their city and ministry with us. Thank you to our event partners, Provisio and Salesforce, and all our sponsors and exhibitors, for making the event a success. 🩵 Monday Mental Health Tip | Suicide Prevention Month 🩵 As we close out Suicide Prevention Month, let’s remember that sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer is connection. You don’t have to have all the answers or the perfect words. Often, just being present and listening without judgment is enough. Tip of the Week: ✨ Reach out to someone today. A simple conversation can be the first step toward hope. You don’t need to have all the answers, but you can be a lifeline. Let others know they matter. ✨ It’s okay to ask for help, and it’s okay to offer it. 💬 A small act of kindness can make a world of difference. Resources: 📞 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) 📱 Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 🌐 Local mental health services are available. Don’t hesitate to connect with us at St. Raphael Counseling if you or a loved one needs support. Together, we can make a difference. 🩵 #SuicidePrevention #YouMatter #MentalHealthMatters #Counseling #WeAreHereForYou

  • A project intended for 271 women to feel more at home at Samaritan House 48th has has come full circle as we celebrated the final phase and its completion today. These innovative private spaces, also called Domes, are one of the first of their kind to be built in the nation. They were meticulously designed and constructed to offer a more dignified and secure living environment for individuals seeking refuge and support within the congregate space. "These Domes are more than just walls, they are containers for humanity. They offer each person a chance to have a place to call their own, even if only for a little while," said Deputy Director of Homelessness Resolution and Housing Stability at HOST, Jeff Kositsky. Thank you to the City of Denver for your partnership, and a special thank you to the participants and staff who remained ever so patient and steadfast during the renovations. It was all worth it! Take a look at the last slides for the before and after! ➡

A Post on Grief 💌 Grief doesn’t disappear with time—it changes shape. Imagine your grief as a ball inside a box. The box has a pain button on one of its sides. When you first experience loss, the ball is large and constantly hits the button, triggering overwhelming feelings of sadness, anger, or hurt. It feels as if the pain is constant, with little relief. As time passes, the ball gradually shrinks. It still moves around in the box, but it hits the pain button less often. Some days, the ball will bump into it hard, and you’ll feel as if you’ve been thrown back into the intensity of loss. On other days, the ball will roll around without hitting it at all. The ball may never disappear, but as it becomes smaller, the moments of sharp pain become less frequent. Grief is unpredictable and personal, but understanding that it can shrink while still occasionally pressing on that pain can help us show ourselves more compassion. If you’re going through grief or supporting someone who is, remember that the pain might be there, but over time, it becomes more manageable. 💙 You're not alone, there is help. Included is an image from Mel Dillon-Dohn demonstrating the Grief in Box Analogy made popular by Lauren Herschel
